Running intervals 9:52 [4] 3.83 km (2:35 / km)
shoes: Adidas Adizero Cadence 2 -2014

Track time ;)

went into the session of not finishing a full session... however felt ace so did the whole thing.

(3 x 600m) x 2 sets - 200m walk between reps, 15mins between sets

times (target-1:40):
set1 - 1:40.02, 1:39.79, 1:40.38
set2 - 1:40.85, 1:37.01, 1:34.41

felt initially quite tough, pulled through and felt really quick, speedy and good by the end of the session! cruised the final rep as well!!

JK Relays - mens trophy - int A team

The fact that we had won this trophy for the last 4 years consecutively didn't help to relive any of the pressure I felt for this race... Also Tam and and Daniel pointing to ace orienteers every 2s and informing me they'd be running 1st leg didn't help! ;)

Went off to a steady start, pressing hard up the hills however put me in oxygen debt by the top of the very first hill! Good till #4 where I hit the wrong gaffle control initially! A painful 10s while I ran to my control went by while I watched what seemed like millions of runners pass me.... Quite something! After that I was all by myself other than 1st leg for BASOC, Czech and Poland which was weird in a field so large! Pressed on, nailing the controls, no mistakes, great orienteering, great fun and slowly the main pack came into sight! I'd had the long initial gaffle and they all had it over the next few controls! ;) caught sight if Daniel ahead, cruised through with a new found energy! Smashed the spec, flew through the final 4 controls and just beat the polish guy on the run in!!! So much fun and what a great relay to be part of! Crushed Daniel (FVO rivals!!) ;)

Handed over to Murray and Hector, they did their jobs very well!!.... Such an exciting finish it was so close at the end!!! SO EXCITED TO HAVE WON THE JK TROPHY WHAAAT!?!? :D :D :D

Very very happy :) well done to the team!

Orienteering race 1:29:48 [5] 10.5 km (8:33 / km) +490m 6:56 / km
shoes: inov8 oroc 280

JK long!!

Started nervously and badly, lost a minute through completely doubting myself and adjusting to the new scale (1:15,000 can't see a thing!)

Also a completely blown pre-o course didn't help confidence levels!

Ok from there, pressing hard, ticking off the controls from here through to #6 where I blew about a minute from not sticking to my plan and then panicking like mad!... Got it eventually... Another 30s at #10 from nerves and thinking too much about running rather than orienteering!

Double blow at #12 where I was slow to the control anyway, but then ran up the spur rather than down (idiot) 1:20 gone.. Then 13. Initial route was solid, slight modification due to a non existent crossing point (shoulda looked more carefully!) but ok until... I ran down the wrong valley just, and proceeded to make things fit inside my head, even though they clearly didn't!! 5:30 lost! Saw Aidan(2min man) at #14 but knew he'd mucked it up(meant to be at 13) still unsettled me slightly and I was ok till #16 where I had a solid plan again, basically following a wall but managed to muck that up, stop a massive valley to early, drop about 100m (climb) soon realised and had to contour all the way around, hitting my 17, then having to climb up a massive slope, watching Aidan, Tam, Olly and a dane charge down in the opposit directions :'( chased after them and it was a mental battle to keep going... Struggled but just about managed to stick with them! (min lost on#20) and finished!

(though I lost to Tam on the Sprint finish... Something I'm not proud about ;))

Counted the seconds until Aidan came in... 2:01!!! I BEAT HIM BY A SECOND!! ;D #yaaas :P

Not a good run at all, was going ok until #13 but after I missed it I hit the wall pretty hardly, stopped orienteering properly and massive mistakes followed! Aidan happened to hit the wall worse though, being with me 3 controls from the finish before I proceeded to take 2:01 out of him ;)

plenty to work on at least!...

Also my shoes sole happened to fall to peices at #18... Not good! Didn't last 200km :'(

Orienteering race 42:51 [5] 5.3 km (8:05 / km)
shoes: inov8 oroc 280

JK middle!

Started really well, nothing special again, just very consistently spiking the controls! Knew there was a chance I might see Tim if I was clean and I did at #8! Mucked up #9 by about a 45s as I attacked it from the thick green through a dodgy compass bearing....

Nailed the next few controls, spiking them 1 by 1 and feeling awesome! Hit 1st place around #11 through to #15, still running well and dropping Tim through the faster legs at the bottom of the slope. A slow split walking up a hill, starting to get tired and planning the next long leg lost me a good 25s and then it all started going badly wrong! Que massive mistake #1.

Poor route choice, poor execution led to a 2:15 time loss... Not a happy chappy! Tried to take the "path it" option to get close then attack but I misjudged my distance and missed the control, had to re-attack :( lost another 15s on the next one running a bit to the left of the control on a downhill leg and stopping for a few secs!

Rest was fine - this time no getting wet on the run in ;)

So almost the perfect race!! :( so so close, really annoyed about the stupid lapse of concentration and 2:15 mistake at the end... What could have been.... Still pretty pleased with the result and in the mix for the next day! ;) (4th British, 5 overall)

Orienteering race 18:31 [5] 4.1 km (4:31 / km) +25m 4:23 / km
shoes: Nike Lunarlon

JK Sprint

Started pretty steadily, nothing special, pretty nervous, picking off the controls nicely. Hit joint 1st position with Sasha at #9 on the course, kept to within 3 seconds of him from here through to #17! (spectator) on going tthrough spec I heard "Alex Carcas, leading by 20s" and my navigation went downhill!! Calmed myself down and did ok (just ok) for the rest of it, big 16s time loss at #17 and another 9s at #21 but happy with the result of 2nd :) (though a bit lower comparing to the 20's than I would have liked!)
Slipping about everywhere, never really got up to full speed and incredibly hesitant on the long legs at the end (after spec) but happy and good fun! ;)
Also had a little early bath on my run in ;).....oops!
