Orienteering race 1:07:02 [3] 7.27 km (9:13 / km)

O-Ringen stage 5
Solid start, exciting since Emma S was only 30 seconds behind me.. felt good reading the map especially to #3 it was smooth and then route choice leg to #4 that included a lot of climb saw my initial route (a good one) and started out and then decided I wouldn't be clean with compass up the side of the hill so I should be safe and do a lot more climb up the ski hill to the trail... regrets even after a calf seizing climb i had to run back down the hill and passed #4 relocated and then went back up the hill... 5 and 6 were fine but then on route to 7 I got on the wrong track to a trail adding decent distance. After 7 I picked it up and am really happy with how I orienteered, my places for the last 6 splits were: 2, 7, 3, 2, 7, 3 ! Glad to have a strong finish to the week and another reminder that if I'm clean I can compete!
#nobigmistakes is my motto that I'm going to try and work on :)

Running warm up/down 20:00 [1]

Orienteering race 43:37 [3]

O-ringen stage 4 (Middle)
No gps on watch today so not sure about distance.

A decent race! Hesitant to number 1 getting readjusted to 1:10000 but then it was really fun and the 1:10000 made me feel like I knew what was going on again... bobble to #5 and then number 7 I tried to go over the cliffs which probably wasn't the best. I then nearly stepped on two snakes, one on the legit side of a cliff which gave me a heart attack and then another at the bottom 45 seconds later which made me scream (first time for that!). I then kinda lost focused and ran past #7 but relocated quick enough to get me back in it... bobble on #9 again coming off my line but then to the finish was a super fun downhill run and pushing it all the way was a good feeling :)

Orienteering race 2:08:19 [2] 8.4 km (15:17 / km)

O-ringen stage 3

Another "how the heck do you orienteer" race reminiscent of stage 1.
It was a very cool map nothing like I had been on before and with a long first leg I lost contact and had no idea how to relocate in an area with very similar looking long marshes and ridges. Thought I came in on the correct marsh lined by cliffs but I definitely did not... eventually found it had a decent next 3 controls and then lost it again finding my 6th control before my 5th control on a 1:15000 map that is never a good thing. It was a tricky area but I still have no idea what i was thinking. 7th control also posed a decent amount of problems with a bearing up the side of a hill and controls with tracking on all elevations of it... again very relieved to finish in the end but not a particularly great race. Lots of time on a cool map on the bright side..

Orienteering race 1:03:11 [3] 7.0 km (9:02 / km)

O-ringen stage 2
A much better race! Ate well and was more focused, lost some time on the first control by being cautious and not wanting to run around frantically although I was about 100m from the control as I stood trying to line everything up... needed to start a little more confidently but then kicked it into gear and was happy with the rest of it despite a mistake on 4 coming off my line and having to back track along the trail. Felt like I could run and results showed that with a semi clean race I can be competitive.

Running warm up/down 15:00 [1]

Orienteering race 2:10:53 [2] 9.8 km (13:21 / km)

Oringen Stage 1
Apparently a diet of bread and nutella the previous day does not exactly give all the nutrients needed to have a good run... One of my worst races ever, vision started going blurry at control 3, I had no sense of distance and despite some recovery in the middle part of the course I was still getting pulled in all directions. Control 9 my brain shut off and with no gels on the course I was a bit recked... needless to say I could not relocate for the life of me and lost about 35 mins on this single control wandering around in every direction. Sigh... eventually found it and finished the last few controls fine and was very relieved to punch the finish!
Learned lots out there and the oringen atmosphere is awesome!
