Yay finally got to the new UBC aquatic centre and its absolutely gorgeous! (
http://www.newpool.ubc.ca/) It closes at 10 so went for a late night swim which worked out, the competition pool was open so swimming 50m lengths made for less turns and stopping which was nice. Alternated 2 lengths freestyle with 2 lengths breaststroke. At the end did a length of backstroke and then a hard length freestyle... and man it was like a 400 m run you can push it the first 3/4 and then you feel like you hit a wall.
Not sure what people's thoughts are about swimming as cross training... I like the resistance training, good for lung capacity, not being in a hot stinky gym, and low risk of injury but not sure how much it translates to improved running. Thoughts?
