Pre-ran the Red course at the Barton Forest Frolic. I knew most of the locations already from vetting. Worst control was # 10 which I didn't know. Poor route choice (should have high-tailed to the road sooner rather than slogging through the forest) then misread the re-entrants and overshot the control. Backtracked to a prominent junction then carefully walked a bearing. 7 minutes lost by my estimate.

"Bank loop", 241st to Eshelman to 255th to Pennsylvania to PCH to Crenshaw. 4:25 lost due to stops.

Went early to beat heat. September is already living up to its reputation as the hottest month of the year around here.

Comparing my time on this loop to when I was doing it in 2011 - yikes! 5-6 minutes slower.
