Orienteering 1:00:00 [1]

I met Victor Lin on a very cold, but sunny, day at Greenbelt and put out sixteen controls for tomorrow's QOC event. I mixed jogging and walking, and it didn't feel too bad, though I could tell that my right knee is still quite weak and unreliable. I was mostly warm except for the hand that was carrying the metal control stands. On the plus side, the creeks were frozen and easy to cross, and also: I was in the woods with a map, orienteering!

Note

So it appears that we will skip the Georgia Navigator Cup, since I still can't run much without pain. We are thinking of heading north that weekend instead to ski, and I am looking for suggestions for places to go that aren't insanely far away.

The list so far:
- Lapland Lake, NY (7 hours, usually good snow and good grooming)
- Crystal Lake, PA (3.5 hours, but not much snow currently)
- White Grass, WV (3.5 hours, looks like decent snow, but sometimes questionable grooming)
- Laurel Ridge, PA (3.5 hours, looks like the best snow in the neighborhood at the moment)

What does the AP hive mind recommend (affordable accommodations are a big plus)?

Cross-Training 45:00 [1]

Barney and I flew back to DC today, while Alli and Inara stayed in Montana for another week. I started the 2018 training year in the usual way: elliptical at the gym.

PT 15:00 [1]

Leg raises plus much-needed stretching while watching the Crown on Netflix. Great show! And John Lithgow as Churchill is amazing.
