Bringing the Mid-Atlantic Junior Regional Team back to life after a hiatus for most of 2017, I organized a training session at Cabin John, before the QOC local event.

I designed a control-picking course and took the trails off the map for the more advanced juniors. Kenny helped me hang flags, and Brian L helped corral the kids and time the start intervals. We had four juniors: Diana, Alexis, Sam, and Patrick. The group was big enough that it felt like a group activity, but small enough that I was able to shadow each of the juniors for several controls and provide feedback afterwards. I think it was a good exercise and good use of the terrain. Each of the juniors did a number of things really well, and for each of them we identified a couple of things to improve on. It's also exciting that at least five members of the Mid-Atlantic team from QOC and at least three from DVOA are applying for the junior national program.

After coming back from chasing the kids, I said hi to Alli and Inara who were working e-punch, and took Barney around the course to collect flags. The only problem with today's outing was that my knee did not show much improvement from the Classic Champs, which is pretty disheartening. Time to get more methodical about doing my exercises and avoiding running and hiking. It's hard to keep getting motivated for recovery after recovery... but the thought of being out of shape and unable to exercise outdoors eventually ends up pushing me forward each time...
