Orienteering 35:00 [0] *** 2.0 km (17:30 / km)
11c

Inara went orienteering!!!

She completed the White course at QOC's local event at Greenbelt today, at the tender age of 8 days: http://attackpoint.org/racesplits.jsp/race_23363.

Not only that, she dominated, taking her first victory! (Mind you, Valerie would have crushed us had she not declared herself non-competitive.)

As one can see, our splits show 1:28 in mistakes. This was mostly us stopping along the way to check that she was still alive.

Team Inara (Alli, Boris, Barnacle, and Inara) really enjoyed our first outing together on Chris' excellent course.

Cross-Training 45:00 [1]

Got onto the elliptical machine at the gym in the evening. Felt better than 2 days ago, though still pretty low on sleep.

PT 5:00 [1]

Resistance bands at home after the gym.

Hiking 40:00 [0]

Our first outing with Inara! It wasn't very ambitious, but we got out, went down to Meridian Hill Park, and then back home. She was great and napped in her baby ergo the entre time.

Cross-Training 1:00:00 [1]

Elliptical. Clearly tired, but still good to fit in a workout.

Cross-Training 40:00 [1]

Elliptical.

PT 30:00 [1]

Full PT workout. This was my first workout post-baby. The last few days have been a whirlwind. We have been extremely lucky to have Alli's mom and stepdad with us to support us through the birth and the beginning of Inara's life. Their support has been extremely critical to us maintaining our sanity and getting a few hours of sleep each night.

It turns out that, as a dad, you feel somewhat useless the first few days. When Inara cries in the middle of the night, there is very limited use to me getting up to comfort her if she is hungry. On the other hand, I am able to provide relief to Alli post-feeding by simply holding the baby for a while. Those hours, so far mostly in the early morning, of sitting with Inara sleeping peacefully in my arms and Barnacle snoring away at my feet, have been simply unforgettable.
