DVOA A-Meet Day 1 - Ridley Creek State Park

I work on the announcing crew first before racing and therefore started last. I think this was definitely an advantage today, as there were a lot of elephant trails in the snow, which made the running easier.

I got confused on 1 and 2, but I think a lot of others did too. Ran better after that, but still made mistakes on 7 and 12 (bad route - got stuck in the terrible green instead of bailing straight down to the trail). I had a good section after that and felt pretty good physically, but made another unnecessary mistake towards the end on 23 before finishing well. I ended up 3rd, 2 minutes behind Sergei R and an impressive Erin, and just ahead of Jordan. I start first tomorrow, so the conditions will be very different.

Cross-Training 30:00 [2]

Easy elliptical in the morning, with a few pick-ups thrown in. It's snowing (sort-of) outside.

How much snow will be in the woods in Philly this weekend, I wonder? Enough to make it so that you can just follow someone's footprints?

Running 1:03:30 intensity: (31:00 @1) + (16:00 @2) + (16:30 @5) 11.55 km (5:30 / km)
shoes: Yellow Mizunos 2014

Track intervals with the Crawlers. Pretty cold and windy this morning, and it took me a while to get warmed up. A small group today - just four of us. We did 3x(200-400-800-200) with short rest between intervals and a longer rest between sets. I had a hard time changing speeds, and felt too slow on the 200's and too fast at the beginning of the 800's. This is good training for getting used to different speeds.

Hiking 55:00 [1]

A nice hike at the Rachel Carson Conservation Area in Maryland with Alli and Barney. It's a really pretty little area that's probably too small for an orienteering map, but really fun to walk through with a girl and a beast.

T.rex training 30:00 [1]

Pilates with Alli and then my exercises afterwards.
