Note

Linné boys were outstanding today, winning gold in H20 and H21 at the Swedish relay champs! Just awesome! Super-happy for them, especially Mats with one more SM-guld in his old age. :)

A video report from orientering.se: http://vms.admin.qbrick.com/player3.aspx?mid=DCE3F...

Orienteering 1:29:35 [2] 14.93 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: 2009 VJ Falcons

Inspired by Linné's successes at SM, I got my lazy butt out the door to do a Winter Training Premiere course from 2009. Struggled to get going at first, but then really enjoyed it once I got out on Nåsten. Lots of mushroom pickers out there, but no moose.

Warm-up

Lovödubbeln long distance - H21
Not a real long distance race, as the winning time was 51 minutes, but a good way for me to run something a bit longer. Had basically no speed today and managed to start off the day with a 3 minutes miss on #1. A pretty bad result - 17 minutes down in a weak start field, but another step on the return to training.

Afterwards, we went over to Bara and Martin's and had a lovely lunch with good company, including a girl who turned out to be Duncan Coombs' girlfriend from Edinburgh. Small world.

Orienteering 1:35:05 [2] 15.85 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: 2010 Asics

Ran around and found some hittaut controls around Uppsala. Started with Norbyskogen, then Gottsunda, Vårdsätraskogen and back up past Lilla Sunnersta, Valsätra and Stadsskogen.

Note

Happened to read, for the first time in a while, a few discussions on AP and on alternativet. Why is it that people feel like they can say things to each other on internet forums, sometimes behind fake names, that they would never say in real life? This really pisses me off. I am starting to miss the early days of AP, when I knew every single person logging training, and it actually felt like a friendly and encouraging community. Whether alternativet was ever like that I do not know, but what passes for civilized debate there is not worthy of six-year-olds.

Note

Spent last night working on courses for Pond Mountain this weekend (not that I'll be there or anything). The blue should be good Highlander training, I think. Hope people give it a shot.

Running 1:07:30 [2] 11.25 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: Rob's shoes

An awesome evening run with Seb on Nåsten. Ran around Rödmossen on the small paths and then back across Hågadalen and past Kung Björn's hill, stopping to look at the hairy cows.

To the starts

Orienteering 43:01 [3] *** 5.5 km (7:49 / km)

2xmiddle distance on Lunsen, the little-used, but still wonderful, northeast corner. It was such a pleasure to run on Lunsen again, even if I am in the worst shape I've been in the last five years. Still, got into the orienteering pretty well and enjoyed it.

Today's return to Uppsala could not have gone better: http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs393....

Running 20:05 [2] 4.02 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: 2010 Asics

Easy run around some trails in Stadsskogen to see if the foot hurt. It seemed ok. Stadsskogen was beautiful in the sunshine after the afternoon rain.
