Note

Another A-Meet write-up up on the blog. This time from the Flying Pig, thanks to Clem.

Running 20:00 [2] 3.33 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: 2007 model Falcons

Warm-up/cool-down

Orienteering 35:42 [4] *** 5.35 km (6:40 / km)
spiked:14/17c shoes: 2007 model Falcons

A middle dístance race in Västerås. Felt much better running than yesterday and orienteered pretty well too. I started out a bit sloppily, but then got into a good flow and was able to push myself physically better than earlier in the spring. The butt hurt, of course, but I at least seem to be able to make it through a middle distance race ok. Finished 32nd out of 90 or so.

Lots of jogging back and forth while waiting for Linus to come in.

Stigtomtakavlen relay south of Nyköping.
This is a six-person relay, with the first three legs run at night and the last three after a re-start in the morning.
So I got to spend Thursday night watching the relay live on web tv and cheering for our guys from home.
I was supposed to run the short fourth leg for our third team, but the team mispunched on the first leg, and so I got moved to the last leg on the second team after Björn felt sick in the morning. The second team was in 3rd place in the relay after the night legs, so that was exciting. However, we lost some places during the day, and I went out 13th. I had an awful race. It was mostly physical, a mix of my butt hurting and being unprepared for a physical, 10km course. In particular, the soft ground made my butt hurt more, and this led to mistakes when I wasn't focusing properly. My time was shockingly bad, but we somehow picked up two places and finished 11th. The first team won!

Running 38:00 [2] 6.08 km (6:15 / km)
shoes: 2007 VJ Falcons

Running from home to the start and back again, this time with Eileen Underwood, who is visiting us from Oslo.

Orienteering 1:07:14 [2] ***** 6.7 km (10:02 / km)

OK Linné's controus-only training on Nåsten, a second attempt. This time it went a lot better. I did two loops, moving reasonably well, though not particularly fast. Made a few mistakes, but was relatively good at relocating. A few legs that I was very pleased with, as well.

Note

I messed up this leg during Rånässtafetten and still do not know what I should have done to be 100% sure of hitting it. The "white" woods around the control were very thick with low visibility and runnability, and it was hard to tell which boulders in terrain was on the map. Does anyone have any good advice for this leg?

Running 35:10 [2] 5.86 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: 2007 VJ Falcons

Running from home to the start and back.

Orienteering 30:00 [2]

Tried doing the club's contour-only training on Nåsten, but failed miserably. My head just wasn't in this, and I couldn't focus on the orienteering and wasn't having fun. Turned back after failing to find the fourth control.
