Note
(injured)

I've gotten a couple of questions about my Jukola run, so here is a short summary: went out in a great position on the 2nd leg for Linné's 3rd team. Limped along in the darkness, orienteering really well, but still losing places. Was passed by Ulrik running for our 2nd team three times. :)
Then I did in my glute again going to #20. Screamed, walked, sat, stretched, walked, jogged, realized i had no clue where i was, lost 10 more minutes, limped around the rest of the course. The glute actually feels better now - much like before Jukola, so I guess it didn't get worse at least. But i picked up a cold to make up for it.
Watching Mattias Millinger bring home the silver for Linné's guys was one of the most amazing experiences of my career as an orienteering spectator, on par with Sandra making the WOC final last year, and Sam's classic race at JWOC '99. I nearly cried.
The parting image from Jukola, which made me pinch myself to make sure I was awake: a heavily bearded Vlad, sitting by the side of the road in the rain with a sign along the lines of "take me to Tampere in exchange for a lesson in IOF WRE regulations." Surreal.
Off to Norway tomorrow via Tyrtom's house, to start my summer of spectating at orienteering events.
