Running 25:47 [2] 3.22 mi (8:00 / mi)
shoes: Asics 2006

Morning jog with Marc and Sandra in Schupfen, including a bit on their local map so I could count this as a day with orienteering. Felt tired, but not completely dead after the Swiss 6. Afterwards - a bakery and lots of croissants!!! (Plus a mandatory visit to a goat that lives near Marc and Sandra's place.)

Swiss O Week Day 6 - the most technical race of the whole week, and the cleanest run for me. Did not go too fast, but avoided any mistakes besides hesitations and had a second good race in a row. 55th place on the map with the most spectacular views of the mountains we've gotten - on one leg, after climbing maybe 30 meters up on a trail and gasping for air, you come up over a small knoll, and the Matterhorn suddenly rises up right in front of you asd some inspiration to make you keep going - simply unbelievable!!!

I ended up 69th for the week in elite, just ahead of Matthias Mahr. Not a very good result, but the last couple of days were good, and i seemed to recover from the flu i had in the beginning of the week.

Running 20:00 [2] 2.35 mi (8:31 / mi)
shoes: Asics 2006

Warm-up, cool-down with Kat and Ross.

spiked:18/22c shoes: Asics 2006

Swiss O Week Day 5 - a race through Zermatt. I felt tired on the long climbs in the beginning but gradually picked it up and ran well most of the way, making sure to take time to pick out good route choices and avoid "traps". Still made a couple of route choice mistakes and a couple of small errors in the street mazes, but overall my best race of the week thus far - 51st place.

Running 10:00 [2] 1.18 mi (8:28 / mi)
shoes: Asics 2006

Jogging to the Tasch Village-O.

Orienteering race 10:05 [4] *** 1.6 km (6:18 / km)
spiked:14/15c shoes: Asics 2006

This was a day off in the Swiss 6, but there was a sprint race offered in the village of Tasch where we were camping, so Ross, Kat, and I came over to run it. It was fun and very low key, and i had a good run, ending up 4th, with Rob Jessop winning in 9:40 or so.

Swiss O-Week Day 3. Was not sure if I was going to race this until the last moment, but my ankle felt ok, so I gave it a go. I immediately missed the first two controls, but slowly picked it up after that and would have been very happy with the race if not for a three-minute error in the red rock area, this incredibly detailed area of huge slabs of red rocks and cliffs surrounded by a glacier. This was a spectacular place to run, with the Matterhorn as a constant backdrop, and running across glaciers an actual valid route choice. Glad i ran this one!!! 73rd place.

Running 5:00 [2] 0.63 mi (7:56 / mi)
shoes: 2006 VJ Falcons

Warm-up

Orienteering race 1:07:39 [4] *** 6.5 km (10:24 / km) +460m 7:41 / km
spiked:16/23c shoes: 2006 VJ Falcons

Swiss O-Week Day 2. This was the steepest day, and I responded by twisting my ankle several times and struggling mightily on the hills. Made a couple of small mistakes and another sizeable one on a route choice, but mainly lost time due to feeling very tired on the hills and climbing slowly, sometimes on all fours. 88th place for the day.
