Orienteering 40:00 [2] 4.0 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: VJ - Studs

Setting controls for the WCOC local meet at Ansonia.

Orienteering 28:27 [4] 4.5 km (6:19 / km)
shoes: VJ - Studs

Running the "middle-distance training" course that Greg designed. Did it last week with streamers in 29:55. Glad to have improved this time, but legs were pretty tired so I did not push as hard as I could have fresh.
I am still finding that I do not recover nearly enough during the week to train much more than I do. This mostly comes from not sleeping nearly enough, though my diet can probably improve too. I am really not sure how people with full-time jobs can find enough time to sleep... I can't wait till summer.

Orienteering 1:00:00 [2] 6.0 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: VJ - Studs

Taking down controls.

Running 15:00 [2] 1.88 mi (7:59 / mi)
shoes: VJ - Studs

Warm-up for WCOC sprint at Osbornedale.

Orienteering race 18:43 [5] 2.5 km (7:29 / km) +75m 6:31 / km
shoes: VJ - Studs

WCOC sprint at Osbornedale. The greenest sprint I've run yet. Lots of briars and random crap to fight through, fun and technical otherwise. Cool finish, running through a wedding party in the last few controls.

Orienteering 55:10 [3] 6.2 km (8:54 / km) +185m 7:45 / km
shoes: VJ - Studs

Red course at Osbornedale after the sprint. Same deal as last Saturday - first sprint, then red. Gave myself more rest this time, and at least my brain was functioning for most of the course. Just one mistake, on #8 on cliffs in the green, where Greg claims the map is wrong. Still took me a while to get going - surprisingly, these little sprints take a lot out of you.

Running 26:15 [3] 3.75 mi (7:00 / mi)
shoes: Nike Pegasus '05

Easyish run on Friday afternoon. I am so tired after every schoolweek.... The highlight of the run was a moment when two of the track guys, "New York City's best and brightest" tripped over a very large, prominent ankle-high chain, one after the other. Our country's future looks bright.

Running 27:12 [4] 4.25 mi (6:24 / mi)
shoes: Saucony

Short fast run - felt more like a tempo run than anything else, although it was not intended as such. Ran with Dave Silberberg, a sophomore and a rising star of Stuy track (4:34mile, 9:50 2mile, 2:03 800m). He pushed the pace most of the way, making it a nice workout for me, especially almost right after lunch.

Running 39:40 [3] 5.8 mi (6:50 / mi)
shoes: Saucony

Running around Randall's Island, then onto Manhattan and back.

Running 6:00 [5]

Strides: 6x150m pretty hard.

Note

Went to Randall's Island to watch the Manhattan Track Outdoor Champs, which Stuyvesant won for the 7th year in a row. Our distance guys did great, dominating the steeplechase, the 3200m, the 4x800m, and doing well in the mile. Go Stuy!
