More orienteering!

I met Kenny and Chris Gross in the Great Falls MD parking lot, and we ran part of Kenny's test loop, which is basically a long control picking course that goes through the nicest woods in the park.

It was great! So much fun, even better with company, and not as hot and humid as the day before. Yay! Definitely got tired in brain and body after half an hour or so and made some rookie mistakes.

Orienteering!!!

I drove out to Little Bennett for an event Greg Lennon organized during the park's Great Outdoors festival. I trotted around part of a course in the afternoon heat. I felt old, fat, overheated, and slow, but it was so nice to be running in the woods with a map and swallowing spiderwebs again!

My back held up, though felt pretty sore.

This run was long enough to almost get Alli and me to the lions at the zoo - but not quite. Instead we had to settle for some deer and fawns just outside the zoo. Hot and humid, but just a pleasure to be out running!

Running again!! After testing out running for 10 minutes at Wheaton Park on Saturday, I headed out again with Alli this morning. We ran on the streets in our neighborhood. It was great! No back pain (knock on wood!!), just overall creakiness, soreness, and out-of-shapeness. Feeling cautiously optimistic about things.
