Note
So we had the GrizO inaugural Zoom call on Monday night. We got about ten local participants, plus two Wills: Enger and Dickinson, the latter a former QOC and RMOC orienteer now located in Whitefish. There were also three people who couldn't make the call, but asked to be involved.
The conversation, for the most part, was an informational one from our side. We talked about all the aspects of organizing an orienteering event, including time and cost investment. After talking through all that, we essentially asked the meeting whether people wanted to keep this going, with the assumption that Alli and I would not be able to keep doing everything. The response was very positive and enthusiastic. Everyone is interested in contributing in small and big ways, and nearly everyone followed up with some thoughts privately after the meeting.
So it looks like we are proceeding. The question is - what's next? It seems like we should become an actual club with by-laws and a bank account and a board. Can someone tell me how to do that and save me the time to google through all that?
I expect to schedule a follow-up call early in 2021 to essentially lay out club responsibilities and plans for 2021. Exciting times!
