Running 15:00 [2]
When we arrived at the QOC Summer Short Series event at Oregon Ridge, Francis asked me to lead a warmup, so we did a 10-minute jog, followed by some running drills. A leashless Barney followed along and was nearly trampled.

Francis designed a two-person, four-leg relay, and so I teamed up with Alli. I figured our toughest competition would come from Peggy and Nadim and from Turner and Francis. Alli ran the first leg while I took care of Inara, and then we traded off. Alli ran a solid first leg, and came back about 2 minutes down on Peggy and maybe a minute down on Francis. I caught Francis at 2 but was immediately stung by a wasp on the shin. A lot of cursing ensued. I ran off towards two, but didn't have my head screwed on right. I lost a minute on a parallel error on 2 and another one on 3 - each time Francis was approaching the control by the time I got to it. The end was ok, and I handed off to Alli maybe 10 seconds after Peggy went out.

For the final leg, I went out 3:30 behind Francis (on the same course) and about 2:00 behind Nadim (on a different course). This time I ran cleanly and passed Francis on the way to 2. I could not reel in Nadim, however, and we had to settle for second place. This was a really fun exercise and a great concept. Thanks Francis!

After the relay, Turner, Michael Wood, and I joined up to run around the Brown course that Francis had designed. We took turns leading and talking through our routes. Good training, and no additional wasp bites.
