I had fairly solid navigation, but slow going with the rocky terrain. The errors I had were simple to correct. On #2, I didn't have a solid plan, but there was a trail behind the control, so no problem. On #8, I veered way off course south of the lake, and came out to the road about 350m uphill from the open area. The trouble started by thinking that I had missed the trail split at the south edge of the lake, when I actually hadn't gotten to it yet. Once I was back on track, I started heading to 9 instead of 8, but fortunately I realized it about 100m before 8, so no time lost there. Going to #9, I didn't see the opening in the rocks, so I took the hard route up and over. On #15, I went too far right, but noticed the area of green and adjusted. Apparently I lost over a minute there, but it didn't feel like it. I guess it was a combination of my error with my cautious movement down the hill from 14.

Note

I looked back at my previous Autumn Trail Series results. I knew that I wasn't as fit this year, which combines with my knee issues flaring up (so I avoided temptation to actually race against people close to me).

Salomon Autumn Trail Series, round 2. Took it easy like last time. Knee felt about the same (uncomfortable, but no pain). Time was a couple of minutes faster.

Saw one of my former swimmers there with her dad. She's now working at 3M.
