Running 30:00 [3] 6.0 km (5:00 / km)

Still coughing - especially when I run.

Sunday May 20, 2018 #

Note
slept:10.0 weight:163.8lbs (sick)

Still sick - last night was rough, felt like I went through Dante's Inferno. I was so cold but would wake up soaking wet having sweat through my shirt. At one point I had the blankets over my head to try to stop shivering. Sleep was interrupted multiple times with crazy dreams, twitching legs, coughing, and flipping and flopping to try to release body soreness.

Woke up this morning still with the cough. Every time I cough it feels like my lungs are on fire.

10mile is not happening.

Well the head cold I had yesterday is now a full blown chest cold. I thought I would walk up today and be 100% but instead I woke up with a nasty cough that makes my lunges feel like they are on fire.

Tough day - super hot at times but shivering, head ache, and super achy body.

Not good.

Running 45:00 [3] 9.0 km (5:00 / km)

Woke up this morning with a head cold - it is not too bad and I am hopeful I can get this cleared up by the 10mile.

Run today was interesting. Ran well but I was so beat up - body super achy, maybe from the cold? Calf was pretty good but everything else was not. I usually feel bad after a day off so hopefully that is it. My psoas (or some deep hip flexor) cramped for about 5min and presented me with a nice challenge.

Running 30:00 [3] 6.0 km (5:00 / km)

Ran my usual 30min out and back on the hospital trails in 27min pain free so a good day. Optimistic.

Pool Workout 45:00 [3] 6.0 km (7:30 / km)
(injured)

2:15 -> 15s by 15s

Good pool WO, I was a bit cautious with my calf on the first set of drills but it was fine and I really got after it. I am going to be okay for the 10mile.

Running 52:00 [3] 11.0 km (4:44 / km)

- Start at Leon's Parking Lot, WU to marina and 10mile turn around, plan was race effort / hard back to finish on course (made it just over 2miles), 20min CD

Uh Oh - I might have wrecked myself this morning. Yesterday was so good so I decided to go ahead and test the leg with this WO. Ran with Jon starting at 5:20am. Woke up at 4:30am and did about 30min of prep.

Felt good on the WU, only a bit of right calf tightness. As soon as I started going harder the right calf got tight, and gradually got tighter until it felt like it might rip. I was still able to run normal and well and debated just finishing (I think I could have). Once I pulled the plug I didn't have to stop and jogging was okay. At 50min I thought I was going to run to 1h but at 52min I had to stop. I was running with Jon and feeling okay effort wise when I stopped and he ran 29 flat.

Post WO I am a mess. Right soleus is super sore and I am walking with a pretty major limp. L hip flexor, both glutes, right IT, and both calves are very sore. I might be getting sick - whole body is achy.

Chiro and Acupuncture this morning. Feeling a bit better after.

Running 1:00:00 [3] 12.0 km (5:00 / km)

No pain today! Like none. It is a miracle!

Ran pretty easy with Galloway today.

Saturday May 12, 2018 #

Running 45:00 [3] 9.0 km (5:00 / km)

Still about the same soreness as yesterday but I loosened up faster today. Right IT just above the knee is tight and it feels like I have to kick my foot forward until it warms up.

Running 1:00:00 [3] 12.0 km (5:00 / km)

I ran my Shuniah hour loop today pretty relaxed in 57:04. I was sore but about to move well and be fast and efficient.

Thursday May 10, 2018 #

Running 1:15:00 [3] 15.0 km (5:00 / km)

- 15min WU, Full LPH Loop at Tempo (11:44), CD to 75min

Happy with this. Was unsure if I should do a WO today but decided to try the tempo and see where I am at. I was sore and tight but about to run well and normal. Happy.

Running 45:00 [3] 9.0 km (5:00 / km)

Much better than yesterday - IT at the insertion was very sore and tight (but I rolled the snot out of it yesterday so I was expecting that) but the calf pain was non existent for the first 40min and then only a bit sore.

Overall a great step forward.

Good stretch, roll, acupuncture, and ice bath.

Tuesday May 8, 2018 #

Running 30:00 [3] 6.0 km (5:00 / km)

Minimal pain - calf not right but not really sore.

Tons of stretching and aggressive rolling all afternoon. Really got after the right IT.

Also Acupuncture and ice bath.

Pool Workout 45:00 [3] 6.0 km (7:30 / km)

The Classic

Calf was pretty good on this - I was a bit cautious on the drills and the first set of the running A's but just crushed myself and Colin on the last two sets. Sprinted all out on number 3 and could feel the power draining out of my body as the rep went on. I embraced the hurt and really got after it.

Running 1:15:00 [3] 15.0 km (5:00 / km)
weight:162lbs

I am a bit worried after today's run. I know I am very fit and ready to go for the 10mile, I just can't afford to get injured now.

I was surprised how sore I was still feeling at the start of this run - right hamstring was again very tight. I was a bit better after 10min but never really was able to run smoothly.

The plan was 2h but after an hour I decided to be happy with 90min. At 72min my right calf really tightened up and it is now very sore.

Stretch, ice, and acupuncture after.

Sunday May 6, 2018 #

Running 1:00:00 [3] 12.0 km (5:00 / km)

Very sore again today. Right hamstring is super tight but loosened up a bit as the run went on.

Saturday May 5, 2018 #

Running 30:00 [3] 6.0 km (5:00 / km)

WOW - I am tight and sore. Right Hamstring is not happy or moving well. Crushing a workout and then driving for 7h with no stretching is not a good idea.

Friday May 4, 2018 #

Running 1:00:00 [3] 13.0 km (4:37 / km)

I crushed my 1h loop from Centennial and into Shuniah today. Ran with Balabuck and we got after it from the start. Felt controlled once we got on the trails and was able to talk a bit. Footing was not great with some ice and lots of mud but still ran a minute PB of 53:41.

It is official - I am fit.

Thursday May 3, 2018 #

Running 30:00 [3] 6.0 km (5:00 / km)

Felt pretty good - not sore from yesterday.

Wednesday May 2, 2018 #

Running 1:05:00 [3] 13.0 km (5:00 / km)

- 12:30 WU, right into LPH 1km+ loop @ Tempo, 90s rest, 5 X LPH 1km+ loop with 90s rest, 15min CD + ice tub
4:17, 4:10, 4:07, 4:11 (trying to puke), 4:09, 4:03

Wow - Good, tough WO. I was hurting after the 1st rep at Tempo. Just took it one at a time from there. Stayed positive and embraced rep 4 even though I was dry heaving for the last 3min - reminded myself the only way to push through puke threshold was to push into PT. Feeling really happy about this effort maybe even proud.

Pool Workout 45:00 [3] 6.0 km (7:30 / km)

Pool WO - 3 X (1, 2, 1min with 30s) with 45s between sets

It was great to workout with the team today, much more fun than doing pool alone the last 8 months. Worked really hard today from the swim and had a lot of fun.

HR = 29

Running 30:00 [3] 6.0 km (5:00 / km)

Run with Shannon - two river trail and golf course loops. Feeling fit and strong and I have to rein things in when I run with Shannon.
