Connacht Orienteering Championships, W21 7.7k. Took me a really long time to get into the map scale here. It looked like a 1:5000 but was 1:10, also really struggled with what constituted a depression. Some of them didn't warrant a form line let alone a depression. Came in waaay too early for number 1 and then faffed my way through the woods until I fell over it. On a bearing to 2, crossed the ride and paced, onto another ride (only 1 on the map) but then I saw someone drop into it so was ok. Was generally ok from here to 10 when I hit all the unmapped ditches and again faffed around a bit until someone else found the control. Again was clean (but slow) through to 16 where I could not make head nor tail of the undergrowth. I felt the light green continued for ages and then it seemed much further along the ditch than I thought it would have been. In hindsight I should have attacked from the path bend. Came up too far right for 17 and hit the path and looped back onto it. Really scrappy, but fun to be out running on such a beautiful day - the 1.5hr we spent in Roscommon minor injuries whilst dad got his head stitched, not so much.
