Climbing 1:00:00 [3]

Very early morning start with a crew organised by JP out to red rocks gorge. Rode bikes along the centennial trail from kambah pool and then did a few climbs on the main red rocks wall. Heated up pretty quickly but good fun.

Running 1:10:00 [3]

Lap of black mtn surging the hills at avtpo pace. Probably did about 35min tempo. Tried extra hard on the little track south of he mtn which I knew was a Strava segment where Grant was ahead of me but couldn’t beat him and mikes of Carney’s CR.

Road bike 1:20:00 [3]

Lap of the lake with a little detour on the dirt through the arboretum. Bike handled the dirt pretty well as there were a few washed out sections and a couple of deep sandy patches one of which I hit at speed which gave me a bit of a fright. Another day of training at work.

Morning lap of the lake with 10x1min, nice morning and good to get it done early before a day of training.

Lunch run on gossan hill. 3x8min with 2min recovery. Quite warm but ticked along ok without really having a good top end pace.

Running 3:05:00 [3]

Long run from Evans lookout > govetts leap > down the ladders and massive downhill to junction rock > along the grose valley to blue gum forest > up the 550m climb to Perry’s lookdown > back along the cliff top via pulpit rock. Pretty cool loop although a bit less fun and more of a slog than Saturday’s run due to the soreness and the length.

Have always wanted to go to blue gum forest since you hear so much about it being an amazing spot but I thought it was a bit overrated. Nearly trod on a python on the massive climb out of blue gum forest and then spent 5min trying to shoo it off the path with another trail runner who appeared a few sec later coming down the hill.
Had run out of water by that stage and was hoping there’d be some at perrys lookdown since it’s a camping area but there wasn’t so begged some from some campers. They didn’t have a lot but they gave me nearly a little which I drank within the next couple of k as I was so thirsty!
Was in a bit of struggleville after the massive climb but felt better after some more flat running and enjoyed the last sections of single trail. On the plus my feet handled the big climbs pretty well, no idea why.
