First time in a long time that I've gotten on the bike to "just ride" (as opposed to going in or out of town for something, usually involving auto repair).

Only one significant hill (Brookville Rd coming up from Indian Creek, mile 19)

Miles:
3:52, 3:02, 4:15, 3:57, 4:24
3:21, 3:14, 3:17, 4:36, 4:01

Miles: 10:16, 10:14, 10:25, 10:02.

1.9 miles each way from trailhead gate to Dam Rd, then ran up Dam Rd (gravel) to the RR crossing to get the distance over 2 each way.

Friday Aug 21 #

Vetting all except the 5 farthest controls at Deer Creek, verifying that all survived the night.

orienteering 2:00:00 [1] *

Thursday Aug 20 #

orienteering 2:00:00 [1] **
32c

Setting controls at Deer Creek State Park

walking 30:00 [1] 1.4 mi (21:26 / mi)

sighting and pacing, setting up the compass activity (All 18 teams have to take a bearing for approx. 60 meters to find their maps at the start of the activity. Each team's starting point was about 3 meters apart along a road edge, bearings criss-crossed, so teams couldn't just parallel the ones next to them.)
