put out 5 controls for Union County orienteering training - light rain and rapidly falling temperatures... decided not to put out the other 10; had a mostly indoors practice session, let the kids go out to find the 5 controls and retrieve them as the rain had changed over to snow; then did some hallway sprint races.

Diamond Oaks. Checked control locations and updated map. A few trail and vegetation changes. Found an old OCIN control flag (just the flag) hanging on a tree along a trail. It must have been dropped during control setting or pickup last year. Also found a newly constructed campfire circle and a shopping cart from the Meijer store across the highway. No evidence that anyone is currently living there, but it would have taken a LOT of work to get that grocery cart up that bumpy trail to where I found it. I'm sure that Chief Moyer will be able to find a couple cadets to haul it out to the parking lot so that it can be repatriated.
