Partially shrotened cross route. Seemed to hit the crests rather than the troughs of the weather pattern, but bring it on! Look at it this way, I didn't have to pay $50 for an epic little ride.

low to mid 4 loop through a soggy Wilmore, ran as if to the turn around tree but then to the paved maintenance area, and then along gravel track to Walgreens, then back in park to crossing @ break in cemetery fence. Maybe 7:40 pace, but that includes warmup,waiting at Hampton to cross, pretty soggy conditions.

woke up w/ a very stiff neck, so this was quite limited but has really helped. i would say it was not truly the exercise by itself that helped but the discipline of acknowledging helplessness, and seeking healing.

the time i log for these activities has nothing to do with chronological time which is almost always more, but rather a measure of the completeness and the focus involved.

to cyclocross race with trailer pulling race bike. Rolled the trailer twice, once there and once on way back. Have to find a way to protect thousands of dollars of bike parts better. First time, I lost it and screamed a cuss word. And this was after being on a retreat all weeekend. Lame. And my bag with my wallet came out, and I got to the race without it, had to unhitch my bike, race back to find the bag, and hustle back. Thought I'd miss the race but I even had 5 minutes to recover.

Then 2 laps into the race I crashed coming out of a steep downhill and hit my forehead hard. Never give up though, right? - jumped back on and finished. In the B race now I count my finishes from the back rather from the front, I was fifth from last and happy with that!

To scrabble and back, thru cemeteries, christy park, carondolet park.
Thought I came back just as fast but it was 3 1/2 minutes slower. I guess picking my way thru gravestones in the dark slowed me down more than i thought. But my run there was 21:47, and my total was 47:21, so there was a numerical negative split of sorts.

Faust Park cyclocross races. First time I ever did the C and then the B race. In a way I felt better in the B, since i had no expectations. So I felt I could help people, or if they passed me that was ok too. Just finishing was sweet, and I wasn't even dead last as I had fully expected to be.

to meeting at Lafayette Square, then scrabble. tired, just grinding out the cold grey miles at a snails pace.

to garden and food pantry. legs felt stronger, went into near sprint mode several times on way back.

biking tempo (cross bike course) 55:00 intensity: (10:00 @2) + (20:00 @3) + (25:00 @4)

quick up and down, over to wilmore, tempo ride building from mid 3 intensity to mid to high 4 with flavors of vanilla, leather and aftertones of blackberry. Wanted it to be all 4 but feeling a little sluggish in this cloudy weather. At the spinervals at the end I felt like I was riding a square wooden wheel. Need to pay more attention to my mechanics, but it doesn't help that the clunky hips that make me relatively durable are the same time not so efficient at high speed.

wore a t-shirt and a medium wt. long rei base layer over that - that seemed to be pretty good at 45 deg.

warmup, then pre ran course, but got ditracted by mapping issues so did not go all out. Then jogged and walked the problem areas to confirm my reactions during the run, everything was pretty much as I had thought.

missed my ride to Queeny and didn't have it to ride out there, but did muster the energy to pull the trailer to Wilmore, and load up really quickly w/ mass quantities of walnuts. I know its going to be a lot harder to husk, crack and shell them than it was gathering them.
