Note

2 days without running, feels like it probably will be more. Feels like my clock needs to be reset before I start training for the spring trail runs and O meets.

No running today either. Thinking of going to a spinning class, maybe 'rock' climbing at the gym, try some different things to get new traction.

errands. among them picking up B12 supplement.

doctor found I have very low B12 and somewhat low hemoglobin which is regulated by B12...so interesting to see what taking the supplement will do to my training, which has felt like its stuck in 2nd gear for a while. I have to wonder if all my training hours, and daydreaming (and actual visiting) of the mountains could be driven by my bodies craving to raise its red blood cell count.

to meet up w/ bill l. - bus part of the way in the am, not feeling very perky at 6am.

ran for an hour and realized there was no way I was going to make it to the other 20 pt. control on the other side of the park with the 1.5 hour time frame, so jogged it in. got to see a part of the park I'd always wanted to visit, and even do a 5.6 climbing move or two on the sandstone bluffs.

to tesson ferry and 270 and back to meet my ride to the cross race in Augusta, via grants trail there, just straight shot down tesson ferry and gravois back...

Cyclocross race at Mt. Pleasant winery. Course had a lot of climb on big hill down from winery toward river and some almost surreal dips and turns carved into the hillside. strategy was to go easy and build up, lined up toward the back, and started picking off people. Somebody was calling out the places as the riders went by, I was 26th, then 22nd, then 20th then 16th, then the lap counter quit...no surges toward end, but steady...so decent race...

when i got home, it was time for the 'long run' - hard to get out the door, so i ran up the river des peres as far as i could for a half hour so I knew i would have to run at least an hour to get home.

to track - figured if i want to run 6:30 pace, it would be a good thing to practice it. ran ascending ladder, times were not to hard to hit (but not easy either), but running continuously for miles is another matter. 200, 400, 600, 800, 1000 with 1/2-1 lap jog between.
Maybe my goal should be to keep hitting the times, but extending the interval longer and longer!

10k 'Organ' run in Castlewood (to benefit kidney foundation). Up steep lone wolf climb to bluff, down lone wolf and across Kiefer Creek rd. and up Justins to Grotpeter, over Reis, down love, up to grotpeter again and down to finish.
Slowed mile 5 because they had changed the course from last year and thought there was a lot more running to do. Then sprinted hard at the end but not an even efffort. Felt more like a 5k than a 10k.

Great race course, healthier than normal post-race food, and age group schwag...but I wish these races would put in mile markers for confused people like me.

9th overall, 1st in 50-59, 50:59.4, 8:10 pace. Felt like a good effort, but I think I'm realizing I'm fooling myself and not pushing hard enough at certain times in the race. Thought I would do better.

Had ambitious plan to race CX at concordia also, but when I got to the fork in the road, I turned homeward. Done.

missed ride to mermec and even tho i had fathers car, didn't feel like driving that far alone. so, warmed up for the cross race, really hilly single-tracky course at Queeny, but so dusty I abandoned after 2 laps. Wish I had spared my lungs the 2 laps.
