pre-warm up:walked up love trail, seemed not so bad, so wore my road shoes w thick insole and a few screws around the perimeter. What I didnt know was that a few degrees warmer and a few scores of trail runners would churn this stuff to slop.

But it didnt matter much anyway, it was so bad no shoe would have been up to the task. I just tried to imagine my shoe was one giant spike. I may have lost a little on slippage, but i gained it back in weight and speed and turnover.
Any way, mud shortened Castlewood Cup trail race course. I took a few breaks on hills, then bombed down grotpeter to what would have been the finish line. If the course hadn't changed. So I was all sprinted out, and found out I had another 1.5 miles. Tough to get going again. Good workout, and ultimately fun even if my stomping grounds had been transformed into ground not good for stomping. Would have been better to be in a earlier wave, as it was I had to do a lot of off camber passing on narrow churned up single track.
Tempo run no. 3 onthe books.
