Note
(sick)

During the night after a hard KP run in late January I passed some blood. GP referred me for renal ultrasound which showed a BPH blockage and a certain amount of retention, so off to see a urologist and he booked me straight in for a cystoscopy. This was done 10 days ago and confirmed the blockage was quite severe, but the bladder (after draining 1.4 litres) was stretched but in reasonable condition, and kidneys showing no sign of infection. A catheter was installed and is the cause of no training since then.

Options are (1) a TURP now, which would rule out the NZ trip - well not entirely but would not be able to train again before we go, not do the planned 8-day Milford/Routeburn walk, and not run at Oceania or WMOC. (2) Use intermittent cathetering which would enable me to do all of the above, and then have the TURP on my return in May. 2 is obviously the way to go, but first have to have instruction (hopefully early next week) in DIY 4-6 times a day.

It seems the prostate blockage is too large for any procedure other than TURP. May get a 2nd opinion in May. PSA is normal and signs are it is all benign.
