Orienteering race 11:23 [3] 1.9 km (5:59 / km)
shoes: X-Talon 190

Race 6 of MSW at Parade College. Didn't do much of a warm-up as I thought I would only be jogging again. However, after the first 3 controls I realised the calf wasn't tightening up so upped the speed a bit and gradually got faster, though never at maximum. Hit all the controls well, possibly could have found some faster routes.

Rossco went to sleep after lunch and arrived half an hour late, so I ended up winning. I was a few seconds faster than him around the course, but he had no time for a drink or warm-up and wouldn't have been in a good place mentally.

Orienteering race 11:48 [3] 1.6 km (7:22 / km)
shoes: X-Talon 190

Melbourne Sprint Weekend race 1 at RMIT Bundoora, calf felt a bit tight during a very light warm-up, so started slowly and never got into a fast pace as it felt like it would go at any time. Went to the wrong building corner at 1 and lost 20-30 secs. Clean after that but was only jogging.

1 minute behind the winner, my good mate Ross. Felt like a good time would have been under 10 mins.

Orienteering race 12:25 [3] 1.9 km (6:32 / km)
shoes: X-Talon 190

MSW Race 2 at Melbourne Uni. Got changed and kitted up, but thought I'd only be able to walk or jog slowly. Managed to jog at about 6.30-7.00 pace the whole way, so knew I'd be 2nd again at least. Caught 3 people who started before me, then made a bad mistake by going straight from 8 to 10. Had to go to 9, then back to 10 again, cost me about a minute and I had to repass one of my earlier starters. The finish was along the 100m straight on the tartan athletics track, but could only jog it. Actually, the calf wasn't too bad so hopefully with a couple of weeks rest (except for cycling) it will be ok for Easter.

About a minute or so behind the winner again, under 11 definitely possible, maybe even under 10 mins.

Joe Dowson was at the event, his first for 2-3 years, but mp in M20E.

Running 16:09 [3] 2.8 km (5:46 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Pursue 2

Intended to do a 6km run in Frankston, but right calf tightened up after 3 so walked back. Had kinetic tape on it, but should have used compression socks instead.
