orienteering race 2:13:00 [4]

The hardest race of my whole entire life!!! By control 9, I actually just wanted to sit down on a rock and cry and wait for somebody to come rescue me. I nailed number one, but then 2 was a disaster. 3 I did perfectly!!! I followed exactly where i was the whole time, going across the hillside, checking off all of the features, and i spiked it! so fantastic! 4,5, and 6 were all great. Then 7... a cliff in the middle of nowhere on the side of a hill. Not a good combination. I ended up too high, and had to bail out back to the trail to try again. Not fun. Then 9 came along, and it was even more of a disaster. Note to self, never leave the trail without knowing where the heck you are... yeah, not the greatest idea for sure. It definitely didn't work out so well and by the time I finally found the control, I was pretty much in tears. Stumbled along to 10, 11, and 12. Ended up spiking 13 and then 14 was quite frustrating. You had to climb up this huge hill on a bearing and find the control on the edge of the green. Easier said than done seeing as the white and green all kinda meld together in the woods. I eventually did find the control and then it was clear sailing all the back... but holy macaroni, a character builder for sure!! :P

orienteering race 52:38 [4]

My time is a tad long for a middle distance, but oh well. I orienteered pretty well... a stupid mistake at the end which included losing contact with the map, and then doing a 180... hehe woops. Other than that though, it felt like a solid race.

orienteering race 16:07 [5]

Most clean race of this whole trip! I was running fast, and making no mistakes... just like Thierry! :P It was a really nice mix of open field and trail running at the beginning, and then they had us plunge into the woods of Fundy and fight through the pines to get to our controls! :P hehe it actually wasn't that bad, but still, i got some nasty scratches from those trees.

orienteering race 14:26 [5]

Super duper fun sprint at Hopewell Rocks. Definitely a chance of a lifetime!!! Really neat to be running amongst the flower pots and winding around the seaweed! Very cool!
