orienteering race (sprint) 22:26 [5] ****
(sick)

Felt soooo drained from puking all yesterday so I drank a lot of fluids before and then went uber slow so that I wouldn't collapse out on the campus. It might have been a good thing that I went slower than sprint speed cause then I could read the details much better. Didn't mess up any of the controls but was definitely ready to lie down and go to sleep by the end of the race.

orienteering (media event) 22:00 [3]

Did the media event to check out the sprint map. It was really hard to read the out-of-bound areas, uncrossable walls, and the stairs but other than that I just took it really slow and spiked every control.

orienteering (relocation) 1:00:00 [2]

John took a group of us around woods working on relocation which was pretty tricky. He had us doing loop-the-loops around trees and around hills. I figured out where I was pretty quickly most of the time, and I stumped for a few minutes only once.

orienteering (relay) 25:00 [3]

A one-person relay with 3 maps and I didn't do too badly. Was racing with Graeme and Lee cause we did the maps all in the same order. I messed up 2 on the first map pretty badly and then 2 on the second map as well, but not as bad as Graeme. That's where we lost him, and then I just a lot faster than Lee on the 3rd map. Almost beat Eric, but he had a better route choice to the finish than I did.

orienteering (line-o and head-to-head) 1:00:00 [3]

I'm totally not sure of the times, but we did a line-o that I did well for 1/2 of it on, and then I totally lost my place and was just following the guys in front of me. Didn't figure out where I was until it was time to turn around, do I just took it sow from there and made sure I knew where I was the whole time. After the line-o a bunch of the guys and I had a head-to-head race for the last 6 controls stopping at the 3rd control to wait for people. I went way too fast for my map-reading speed and I had to slow down to relocate. Definitely a good training exercise though.

running 30:00 [2]

Some running training with Maurene which was really cool.

orienteering 1:00:00 [3]

Just a normal course to work on our o-techniques and Brent shadowed me for the first 3/4 of the course. I don't know if he's lucky or what, but it was my best run on that terrain ever!!! I was choosing good routes and spending almost no time standing at the control. I was flowing soooo well. After he left, I kinda lost my concentration and bobbled the next few controls, but I finally started enjoying the terrain.

orienteering 1:00:00 [2] ***

Did a course out on the training map to get a taste of the terrain and I'm not sure if I like it all that much. It's full of underbrush from a storm so pretty much most of the map is green, it was stinkin hot and I was totally exhausted!!!

orienteering race (night-o) 1:05:00 [3]

Was really nervous for the start of this night-o but I didn't go too fast and kept track of where I was the hole time, so I didn't get totally lost at all, just a few little bobbles.

running 1:15:00 [3]

Did some trail running in Riding Mountain National Park really really early in the morning to beat all of the tourists. Did I really nice run along Clear Lake but I found it really tough, blame it on the altitude... :P Got lost in the campground trying to make it back to our site which really sucked cause I was about to collapse by that point. Thankfully, I made it back alive.
