orienteering race (US long) 1:14:00 [3] **** 8.4 km (8:49 / km)
spiked:9/11c

The start triangle was 90m up the trail, but since the people had said that we didn't need to got here, I just started to control 1. I took it really slow because it was somewhat a bingo control. Straight down the hill but ended up going a bit too far and had to come back a couple meters to get it. Control 2 there were two people taking pictures which kind of threw me off. I think control 3 was my best control out of all of them, because I spiked ti so bad!!! I took the trail up and when I got to the clearing, went in off the corner. I hit the stone wall and followed it right into the control. Beautiful. Control 4 was easy because I just contoured around to it. Control 5 was tricky, and I did make a little mistake but I got to my attackpoint all right. So I went into the woods on a bearing, but ended up too far to the right. Instead of running around aimlessly trying to find it, I bailed out to the trail and after taking another bearing, hit the control. After getting to control 6, I did a 180 for about 2m before I actually figured it out. Had to run past the aid station again which was probably pretty funny for the lady sitting there. For control 7 I think I could see it pretty well from the trail and then control 8, instead of taking the trail all the way around the cliffs and big hills, I went up and up and up and over top which worked out pretty well. I didn't hit my attackpoint very well, actaully, I didn't even find it, but I did find the control anyways. 9 was pretty easy because it was by another crossing guard. Control 10, some people had trouble with, but I went around the hill and up the re-entrant, which I guess was a better way than going over top. Control 11 was brutal because you had to climb up this killer hill, although, that's what I've been training for isn't it??? I was really happy with that race and it showed in the results: first in F20, and 4th overall!!!

orienteering race (US short) 30:29 [4] **** 3.07 km (9:56 / km)
spiked:11/12c

I raced in the F20 category, or on the Green Y course. There were ribbons to control 1, so that wasn't so hard, but I took it slow on control 2 to get the groove of the map. For control 3, I pratically ran into the swamp where the control was which was pretty nice. Control 4 was quite simple because there was a crossing guard standing at the control. Although, I did fall and bash my knee on a log which hurt a lot!!! Control 5, I used the pits as an attackpoint and then just ran up beside the re-entrant into the control. Control 6 was fine, I just contoured around to the control, and control 7 I spiked it pretty well. Control 8 I was a bit too far over to the left, but still found it ok, and control 9 I was over to the left, but that was on purpose. Then there's control 10, I ended up going to the Green X's control which was near mine which was a bummer. I have no recolection of finding control 11, but I'm sure I went there and then 12 I almost made a mistake but caught myself. All in all, I came first in my category, and 3rd overall.

cycling long (one big long hill) 50:00 [2]

Did a hill for the whole time which didn't make it too hard It was supposed to be strenght, but I'm not that sore. Although, that might not be a bad thing because I don't want to be sore for the races this weekend.

Note

I'm not sure if I'll be able to access a computer this weekend to record my race times, but I'll get to one sometime...

running hills 45:00 [3]

We did the hill for a little bit of conditioning for this weekend. Did 5 times up and down, although we were a bit off of our pacing.
