Up to the top of Whistler Summit. We trucked up the trail! We had to wait several times for Sean, for minutes once when he went on a deer trail because he thought he heard our voices. I would love to have seen our time if it was Max and I alone.

After 6.3 km, we got to the top of the cable car, so we were unfortunately joined by a lot of other people. The view was insane though after this point so it was fine.

Other 1:00:00 [3]

Just having fun around Whistler Summit. Went along the ridge a little to get away from the crowds and we were on a pretty cool alpine plain with easy access to a few other mountains, but we just looked at them a little. Had a little hill sprint competition that was absolutely brutal, took a lot of photos, and sprinted back to the cable car.

Running 45:00 [3] 6.3 km (7:09 / km)

The tram cost money, and only Sean went for it. Max and I got a kilometer and then some into the trail before deciding we wanted to beat Sean to the car. He had a half-mile walk at the bottom so we were banking on a long wait at the cable car station and a slow walk back to the car. Lots of tricky footing and two bouldering sections downhill made for what I'm going to call a terrain run.

Hiking 1:50:00 [3] 8.2 km (13:25 / km) +350m 11:03 / km

Maligne Lake overlook partway up Bald Hill. The trees obscured a lot.

Up the 8.9k trek to Glacier Lake and along it. Arguably even prettier than Moraine Lake and Lake Louise because we had it basically all to ourselves. We were with only four or so other people, including a really nice retired couple from the Banff area that we chatted with and gave us a few tips for what else we should hike. We liked that the distance dissuades many tourists from doing the hike. At this point we're driving up the Icefields Parkway to get to Jasper, some of the mountains are insane. They look like flat ground except at a 45° angle, almost like we stepped into Inception.
5 PM

Hiking 17:00 [3] 1.5 km (11:20 / km) +120m 8:06 / km
shoes: Adidas Pureboost DPR

A short, supplementary hike. Max and I left Sean at the car to rest his legs and turned up the heat a little bit. It gave us a splendid view of the Columbia Icefields.

Running 6:57 [3] 1.5 km (4:38 / km)
shoes: Adidas Pureboost DPR

Ran back to the car. Tricky downhill portion with lots of roots, rocks, awkward turns, and some stairs. Max fell and got scratched up a little, but we were feeling excited by the pretty view and wanted to get the blood flowing

Down in the Lake Louise area. Up to the Little Beehive, then across to Lake Agnes and along it. We rock-hopped up the valley a little bit for a nice view and saw a massive gopher! Back past the teahouse and down the stairs by the waterfall and we worked our way back down to the lake. Then along the Lake Louise shoreline for a bit and back, and finally the Fairview Point Loop.

Up to Cory Pass, couldn't go down the other valley through Edith Pass because of steep snowfields. We decided not to risk it and went back the way we came. We did hit the highest point of the loop though, and the views were incredible. Most of the first half had massive incline, but it chilled out a bit when we skirted along the rocky sidehill near the top. We got a lot closer than comfortable to a black bear with two cubs on the trail on the way down, so we got held up a bit as we waited it out.
2 PM

Hiking 2:20:00 [3] 5.8 km (24:08 / km) +700m 15:03 / km

Rounded off with Ha Ling because it was recommended to us. It was much more difficult than Cory Pass, which surprised us; the second hike was meant to be the easier one, the palate cleanser. We couldn't see the way forward several times in the scrambling section so we just guessed. Fantastic views though, much better than this morning. We need to ask for recommendations more often.
