Orienteering (Special-Night-O) 45:00 [3] 5.8 km (7:46 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 190

Time is pretty accurate, distance is hypothetical. Special event, score-o, each control has a note that tells you to do something like turning your light off for one control, staying off all trails for next control, memory-o, or eating something.

Orienteering warm up/down (Control retrieval) 18:59 [3] 2.54 km (7:28 / km) +42m 6:54 / km

Like in Norway, island hop through the marshes, using white hills to run fast and to check location. This allows me to go quite straight and to the left. This takes into account the wintertime, when the marshes are more runnable.

I chose the route around the left. It was a tie between following the trail around the left side with minimal climb or going down into the flat on the left. There's a trail that leads very close to the control, would use this.

Thought it would be good to head for the fenced clearing to the right of the line, drop down to the large trail, follow the small trail that gets very close to the line and ends with a building in a tiny clearing on a large hill, head down the spur and take a bearing to the feature.

On the path and road to the right, allows fast running, I can avoid the marshy goodness in the middle of the leg, and I can spend the entire leg thinking about what I want to do for the next few legs.

Up the left ride, through the gap between the two large hills near the number 3, down the trail on the left side of the line to the large trail, take the large trail that goes above control 6 and drop down by the tower.
