A delightful romp through the snow. Struggled to go through the woods downhill, it was a bit too icy and steep, and got battered silly on both sides going along the dyke, wind was holding no prisoners. Good run though, albeit snail's pace.

One last take on a few of the climbs. Stomach was complaining quite a bit so it wasn't the long run I was aiming for, but content to leave it at this.

Note

Decided it would be interesting to do some maths to mark the end of the semester. I've done about as much climb since I moved to Edinburgh, September 9 being my first run here, as I have since JWOC 2017 up to my last run before moving here.

Doesn't help that I focused a few months on soccer in that stretch, but that's still some pretty nifty progress.

Goal for the next semester is to up the mileage. I got a short taste of mild munch madness towards the end, but it took a hell of a lot of time to do it. Gotta start off the bat next sem and up the ante.

A good final long run for the semester, sadly cut short by some niggles in Robbie's knee but still content overall. Felt a lot stronger up the hills than Monday after stretching my hamstrings all day, and chat was good. No more pain in my foot up the hills either, looks like everything's looking up. Surprised at how quickly I'm racking up kilometers on the VJs though compared to the Pureboost.

Final KF sesh of the semester featured 3x8 mins and 2x4 mins. Hammies were quite cramped up at the end, but they've been tight all day so it wasn't unexpected. Just a few more runs in before I'm off the hook, just gotta git er done. I expect I'll get loads of soccer sessions in over break, finally time to make a return to my home turf.

On the Seat with Robbie for a while. He paced me on the Skegg, and lo and behold I hit 22! A bit of a surprise, I lost a second on winning time going up the hill because I hesitated with Robbie in front of me but chasing him down for the second half reeled the second back in. Good stuff. Went for another segment later on but screwed up; I never checked where it ended, didn't occur to me that I'm supposed to go through the gate. Bummer, took it quite quick and was exhausted.

Fun run overall, what a rollercoaster of emotions.

Plans of a long run disappeared without a trace. First it was the Arsenal game, then it was the big clash, then dinner, and suddenly it was late. It's hard to commit to a time when I'm running alone. Aimed for a solid 40 minutes to take the day home, a nice ending to go to sleep to.

Long run with Robbie

I absolutely duped myself. I wanted to run less than last Wednesday but went to Sainsbury's for detergent, didn't even bring enough money for it. Also missed the mark on the Skegg and stayed at 23 seconds. It wasn't a totally wasted run though, I bought some delicious milk instead.

Legs were feeling quite tired. Didn't affect to much for the 7s, and I was quite happy with the third rep that presented a glimmer of progress that's coming out of all this, but my legs couldn't quite put down the hammer for the 5s and I struggled to get my heartrate to a high enough range because I wasn't going fast enough. Enjoyable session in the end.

Zak came to me from the gym asking if I wanted to run, and I couldn't just say no. Felt very relaxed throughout, so everything's good under the hood. Stretching once again was a blessing, felt miles better than earlier today.

On another note, my right nipple is in a bit of pain since yesterday. Probably a bit of chafe but showering is a mini adventure now.

Most flattering thing I can say is that I ran four intervals. I didn't think about what I ate beforehand and I payed for it. Don't think that mistake will come back again, too traumatizing. Very nearly buckled after the second and was partway out of the fields before I guilted myself into staying and completing the last two reps.

Effort felt present though so as much as I was slothing it out there my heart got a good beating.
