Easy Run (Track Practice) 2:30:00 [4]

Phew...that was a little more than I expected. After meeting up with the coach, we ran down to the track at an easy pace, after waiting for my friend to finish talking to the coach about absences and such. Everybody was beginning to warm up when we jogged in. Great start.

After some good technique stuff that wasn't very hard at all, most of the athletes left, save for the long distance runners. Time for some real work.
We started with a mile run, and I hit a time of 6'10. I honestly think I could have done much better than that, I feel like I didn't put enough into it. I think I should have tried to at least beat 6 minutes, but I guess next time I do the mile I'll give it more.

However, I'm also a little glad that I had a little left in me after that, as then came an acceleration workout. Ten sets of 100m, which I think I did relatively good in, and then another five sets of 200m, where a cramp took a little out of my speed when I was supposed to peak; I need to find a good way to deal with those cramps.

After that everything else was pretty basic. We jogged back to the high school, spent a little time taking a survey, then did an eight minute ab workout led by Mike. It was pretty relaxing, I think, but I had a little trouble with soreness with the scissor kicks and another movement of the sorts.

All in all, quite a solid second day of Track and Field. Personally feels like the first though, Monday wasn't much of a workout. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season and how much it will help me improve! What I took away from today: I have a lot to go, and my mile pace is slow. But you know what? I have a whole season to get better, and I plan to use it to the best of my ability to get better at running. It's also great knowing that my efforts in track will rub off on my orienteering! We'll see where track takes me.
