Orienteering race (Navdash - Long) 23:08 [3] 3.3 km (7:01 / km) +9m 6:55 / km
ahr:153 max:169 shoes: ASICS GEL - Nimbus 17

So had a stretch before starting was a bit of a cool day but enjoyable still - Set off at a nice pace t
1) could have gone harder but nav was poor to start
2) some hesitation but generally good - through the second gate to get there.
3) half way there - ping goes the left calf again. FUCK. slow down and start assessing think it sok to continue but unsure.
4) really eased off and limp running now.
5) should ahve pulled out at this point but proceeded on - ran too far because I didnt know you could cross that bush but when I saw people doing it - in i went.
6) got my feet wet on bad crossing point meh.
7) had ricky turbo blast past my limping ass.
8) some hesitation but at this point was jsut a matter of survival from my leg.
9) easy
10) went northern route rather than via the bball court.
11) Should have gone norht - went south. blah
12) nice.
13) grr went via where 2 was and the gate was no closed that cost me as i had to double back.
14) got a 10-15cm scratch from vegitation as leaving 13. cool story! 14 via the west
15) straight forward
16) probably did extra ground here should have gone out start gate but decided to loop around further silly - blame ricky for that :P
17) passed craig in playground - and up to CP (will revisit this leg in a moment)
18) around to the north
19) actually lost a few seconds finding this one
Fin.

Significant limp - quite painful - lost at least 4-5mins through the calf if nto more- felt like a massively fluid course and wish i could have run it at full pace really pissed at that.

Orienteering (Navdash - Short) 12:05 [2] 0.96 km (12:35 / km) +6m 12:12 / km
ahr:119 max:136 shoes: ASICS GEL - Nimbus 17

Really wanted to do more given enjoyment of course, the drive etc etc. so Paul and I walked the Easy - this actually was probably too much for me tbh - really felt calf on this walk and highlighted how bad it actually was. :(

some proper damage done i suspect. going to have to figure out what I need to do (or not do) in order to be good for 12 hour in 2 weeks.

#annoyed.

At least I still beat Paul in the exceptionally slow finish split on the long course.

Anyway back to icing and elevating.

Road Bike (Commute to Work) 21:19 [3] 7.64 km (21.5 kph) +55m
ahr:144 max:170 shoes: Giro Privateer

Surprising number of PR's for what was a pretty casual ride in.

Road Bike (Commute - To Home) 20:41 [3] 7.04 km (20.4 kph) +106m
ahr:137 max:159 shoes: Giro Privateer

First time straight up mount street in a while and boy my legs and lungs let me know about it - apparently my 3rd fastest attempt - wasnt even going for it. in some ways happy as must be getting stronger - in others highlighting that the week off really messed with me as recovery took ages. Otherwise a pretty clean ride home - a few spits of rain nothing major.

A whole lot of 'do not want' this morning - but forced myself to go and very happy I did - the new legs session is boss mode hard but very enjoyable. A bit of Tooms inspired core/leg pain in there.

Road Bike (Commute to Work) 22:21 [3] 7.88 km (21.2 kph) +56m

Just a good solid slog into work - really chuffed to get some PR's after a legs session this morning!

Road Bike (Commute - To Home) 24:11 [3] 8.71 km (21.6 kph) +44m
ahr:135 max:157 shoes: Giro Privateer

Nice ride home until a dick head decided not to stop at a round about and almost took em out - screamed through his open window but he didnt both looking. grr! he also blocked the roundabout because it was full on the other side!

Need to get a new rear light as I think this ones pretty much dead.

ahr:130 max:153 shoes: Giro Privateer

A slow start to today!

interesting/weird thing happened - had forgotten to put on HRM so went back inside to grab it put it under the tap to wet the pads as instructed and it showed a moving heart beat straight away once wet between 70-76 and moving. Odd as I was only just touching the strap and certainly not the pads. so I placed it on the bench top and observed my watch continue to receive hr data in the 70's for a good 30s-60s before I got bored and put it on. At first I thought it was the water that had splashed on either sensor triggering it but the fact it lay on a counter top with nothing touching it still transmitting for some time after that - weird.

Ride was uneventful - new bike lockup facilities are nice.

Road Bike (Commute - To Home) 25:26 [3] 9.5 km (22.4 kph) +61m
ahr:142 max:167 shoes: Giro Privateer

Rear light broke off - fixed it when I got home. Other than that - nice cruisey ride home.

Brand new routine - I wasnt keen to go - but new routine was fun/challenging. sadly the phone died before the end so I didnt know what last two activities where so had to drop them. marked as completed so I wouldnt lose them from the next time I do routine. It may be a tad long but I didnt have a spring in my step this morning so will be interesting to see timing when I am in full swing

Road Bike (Commute to Work) 23:08 [3] 7.29 km (18.9 kph) +93m
ahr:137 max:166 shoes: Giro Privateer

Back on bike - wore the lined long arms top today - did not regret that decision.

Had someone follow me from karrakatta to mount st descent - held him off majority of the way he pipped me on may drive climb - being a smart ass - so I put in some effort to the roundabout which he decided to hang on for so I went hard to and down mount street - he wasnt so game.

Feeling decidedly weak though - back wheel felt like it had a brake rubbing - I doubt it did but will check later.

Road Bike (Commute - To Home) 20:25 [3] 7.49 km (22.0 kph) +52m
ahr:140 max:163 shoes: Giro Privateer

Uneventful - worked reasonably hard but nothing mind blowing.

Orienteering race (Peterdine South) 1:14:23 [4] 8.15 km (9:08 / km) +176m 8:14 / km
ahr:151 max:173 shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3d M+

Brought Dave along to his first footo and of course took him on the H1 because thats how we roll.

Great start forgot to start GPS until 12s in so whilst a small distance will through the points off on tbt slightly until we get a few more peoples gps traces up (if any are available).

1 - cleanish but tentative
2 - too low around the hill so had to go over the top - lost a bit of time there but was giving Dave a sense of the accuracy required.
3 - spike
4 - handed Nav to Dave now after having explained my thinking for first 3 controls - he overshot 4 a bit and I pulled him up pretty quickly as I wanted him to not get thrown by scale - he soon adjusted.
5 - pulled a bit to left - I explained the granite and green and me looped around fence and then up to the correct sized boulder.
6 - tragic - we ran straight past it - I even saw it sitting there in the open not having looked at clue sheet and thought - thats too eays to be ours - and followed all the way to the powerline not thinking about distance and 'making features line up in my head' quickly saw road and gate then realised powerline was marked - pointed it out to dave then we doubled back and I realised I had seen it already oops. - first time I have missed a control because I thought it was too easy!
7 - I started to fade here we still jogged sections of this leg but the week of being sick inc properly sick thurs-sat had clearly drained me because I didnt have much energy.
8 - perfect bearing until the downhill spur where we sucked around to the left and crossed the fence we realized quickly and headed across not much time lost but sub optimal.
9 - visible from 8
10 - spike
11 - geez that fence was interesting - we found a fence post and then naved from there up to the top of the spur and the worlds biggest spider. then gave Dave some questions about location using the features and pointed out to him what he needed to figure out where it was in relation to him. nipped around straight onto it then
12 - Ricky zipped past us and got me back to a canter for a short while, 12 straight forward enough.
13 - taught Dave to look for attackpoints along the way not jsut the final attack point we skirted left of the bolders the right of the two small granite chunks and then onto the granite edge and in - worked a charm.
14 - to the dam and over
15 - I came out of this the wrong way but quickly realised adjusted and bang on.
16 - spike but slow now
17 - slow and steady but good
Fin.

good area - fast and good weather. if I wasnt feeling lacklustre and trying to teach would have been closer to AMartin. I think. Dave will be good once he gets his eye in as long as he doesnt go too fast because that will be where the errors will come.
11 AM

Orienteering race (Peterdine South) 1:03:45 [3] 6.64 km (9:36 / km) +146m 8:39 / km
ahr:150 max:168 shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3d M+

Had a quick break and some fluids and back into it on H2 - sadly all but 1 control were reused from h1 all in same flow/direction so wasnt that much extra fun.

Started GPS on time this time yay!

Wont go through blow by blow as we where pretty much clean throughout a few trials of different approaches and different nav but generally clean and or we didnt mind drifting so much.

We started at a jog but that soon descended into a walk and I was feeling like a second might have been optimistic. on long leg from water to paddock (whinging from here down for a bit) I rolled left ankle - ankle was completely fine but left calve tightened up majorly and could really feel it by end of race and ever since. not as bad as post kings park when it went but I am going to keep and ice on it - havent gone ICE on it yet.

Shins also feeling a tad tender after beating but not too bad.

Toenails took a beating surprisingly usually footo they are fine.

and my post exercise headache this afternoon is THUMPING not helped by a squeeling Will but wont hold that against him!.

All that said - really enjoyed today +1 to setters and nice area - wish it was slightly closer. hopefully blew the rest of the cold out of the system now to get back to training and monitor the parts which are breaking.

I am also sure Dave will be back and wont be long until he starts soloing I am going to give it a few sessions then hell be out there for sure.
