Running (Long Slow Cruisey) 1:43:57 [3] 13.3 km (7:49 / km) +171m 7:21 / km
ahr:167 max:180 shoes: ASICS GEL - Nimbus 17

Well just had one of those forrest gump moments where I just wanted to go running and keep running - Grabbed a pack and a headlamp and off I went - given my level of fitness I really didnt know how it was going to go.

Headed for kings park via cemetery. made it all of 10m into my run and almost got flattened by a turning car - my mistake. got going again- knew was going to be a long run so set a pace of 6:15 which i felt was very maintainable.

once hitting the park I saw everyone going to moonlight so went south to law path - saw a veyr cute bunny rabbit bounce acroos the path... then that same path officially broke me on its long climb, walked for the briefed of moments - but also saw my pace had dropped to 7:00 or so - so got going quickly - was still feeling pretty good as I went down kakoda was debating south perth loop but my reptilian brain said - dont be a fool its your first time doing something long in a LONG time - turn around or you may die.

I went to jacobs and my reptilian brain proved its point as I imploded on the first set of stairs - by the time I got to the top my average had blown out to nearly 8:00. Walked to round about then got going again - wanted to go around the water tank and onto the sand trail - was getting dark and couldnt tell exactly where I was just knew rough direction - as I got closer I noticed a family searching with there phone lights - I asked if they needed a hand as I had a better light - they said yes they had lost a frisbee. So I pulle dout spike light and attempted to fire it up for the first time... well I was clicking and getting all the wrong modes which looked I am sure 1) retarded, but 2) bright and impressive.. as one remarked - wow now thats a light. Got it onto the mode and light setting I wanted and was about to scan for frisbee when mother found it... 1m to my left DOH! I am going to claim it was the ambient light helped her spot it. Anyway trotted on now below 8:00 and wanted to pull back some time.

Ended up running around the back of nature scape and then picking the path on left instead of the right... this lead me on a path I havent been on before to a construction site... was very confused - decided to explore and followed this fence around expecting my sand path to appear. Well another path appeared -grassy I figured it was my sand path and just had some growth on it. When this linked to the real sand trail was less confussed and happy I missed the sand climb - well the worst of it.

Calves where in burn ville now and as I followed the sounds of the moonlight theater I had a play with the spike light - I think I have mastered its modes now. This path confussed the hell out of me - but just kept following it and it got me where I wanted in the end.

Out of the park and up to the cemetery - where I properly put the spike through its paces. Spot light is pretty impressive - mind oyu the ambient spill with the spot is a bit weird - will be interested to see how it plays out when control hunting. The lower level spill lighting isnt great for running - sure for walking map reading and control writting good - level 3/4 felt like right ambient power had a interesting glow to it - very white and air looked dusty - will be interested to see if it is warm enough for long rogaine use without hurting eyes. Staps where nice and it didnt bounce whilst running so double ticks there - and felt pretty light too. all in all pretty satisfied - looking forward to its first real test. certainly one par/better than current light so no complaints there not like I want to switch back.

Anyway dawdled home - wasnt so happy with the end pace - I have done a C2S in 1hr - even being unfit I should be 40 mins off the pace. eek oh well #consistency required.

Good news is the 8 months or so of nightly tooms glute exercises meant not a niggle or tickle on the shins - feel bad for missing 2 nights now! I shall return tomorrow. Calves are burning!

Epic writeup for boring run - #notrequiredbutprovided Now for night duty - could get interesting. oh and yay - I beat my daily step count for a change LOL.

Running (Home from Parents) 28:12 [4] 4.46 km (6:19 / km) +59m 5:56 / km
ahr:166 max:174 shoes: ASICS GEL - Nimbus 17

After a long time of nothing and weighting in my heaviest in over a year I pulled on the running and went out not expecting much

didn't get much the climb out of peppi grove was painful and that set the tone for an otherwise uneventful run.

Garmin metrics either didn't work or are wrong - the new runner felt nice at least.

A lot of work to be done to get back in form oh well

Just a comfortable a walk around the burbs - discovering some new areas I havent explored before - some nice parts I havent seen... shame the foot path ran out and I had quite a while on paved road - yes it woke the young man up early - oh well.

Mountain Biking (Camel Farm) 1:38:18 [4] 19.54 km (11.9 kph) +336m
ahr:160 max:183 shoes: Giro Privateer

Was hard work out there today - first time on the bike in ages and the fitness was certainly not there. - Ride was really nice, no problems and was nice and smooth.

Also the watch seems loads more accurate on climb and distance.

Gears felt good after I cleans and lubed them.

Bike fit - well this was an interesting change - body certainly was fighting it to try get in my old posture - interestingly when I didnt fight it the bike just felt right and there where moments where I felt I was getting good power for little effort - going to take some getting used to - particularly because I feel higher up and on pea gravel that sucks.

New Glasses / Gloves - The glasses - amazing I have always wanted a proper pair of cycling glasses and good god them where awesome, no glare, no fog up, good visibility, enhanced colours - very happy with them - the glove on the other hand (pun intended) sucked! they felt too tight and uncomfortable - might be ok for road bike but found on the technical stuff it was painful on my hands made my hands feel numb and generally bad. - hoping they would give a little but rather I got a blister from them.

Smaller hydration pack - heaps better - not much bouncing around and 2l was just right.

big ass saddle bag - wasn't annoying on my legs like I expected but I think i need to fill it better as the jiggling was noisy/distracting.

Was a nice was to open my 2016 exercise log!

Note

Given how I was feeling on this mornings ride - I was pleasantly pleased/surprised to see a number of PB's or near PB's.

Bike fit must have yielded more power because I am certainly not fitter or stronger...

mmm will be interesting to see if I get bike fit again what it could convert too.
