Running (Warm Up) 15:00 [3]

Orienteering race 28:33 [4] 3.3 km (8:39 / km) +105m 7:28 / km

It is rare for me to have two good races in a row, but that's exactly what happened this weekend. I had to yell at myself in the beginning to stay focused and have confidence in my navigation and distance estimation. I spent too long figuring out which side of the marshes to run along on my way to #4, but I think I made a good choice by going south. I caught Will who had started two mins ahead of me at 5 and nearly had a heart attack (he seemed a little upset... :D). He booked it out of the control and after trying to keep up for him for a few minutes I decided focusing on my own navigation would be best. I saw him briefly on the trail to #7 (I think I had a more efficient exist from #6), but after that he was gone. The last loop was hard on me physically; there's plenty of room for improvement on that side of things. Overall a spectacular weekend, and it was great to see my O buddies.

Running (Warm Up) 15:00 [3]

Orienteering race 58:15 [4] 6.11 km (9:32 / km) +230m 8:02 / km

I am really happy with this race. I was moving at a consistent, quick pace. I pushed myself on the flats and never stopped moving on hills. I was nervous going into this weekend because most of my training has been playing soccer, but evidently it's working. In past long races I have struggled with picking a route and sticking with it, so I focused on that during this race. There were a few legs where I could cut some distance (hugging the line more on #4 for example), but my navigation was generally on point. Oh, I had an embarrassing bobble on the last control... I may have lost up to 20 seconds. Whoopsies!

ATTENTION ORIENTEERS: I Will be selling a pair of size 8.5 Accelerita 2 icebugs this weekend at Nationals. (If no one buys them there, I will bring them to NAOC.) They are lightly used, pink, rubber spiked (no metal). I'm asking for $25. If you are interested, find me at anytime this weekend, email me, or comment on my log.
