I blame the train! I was definitely not going to go this far today (I really just wanted to do a nice 5ish miles), but the train got to the crossing point just, and I mean JUST! before I did. Being the impatient person that I am, I decided that I really didn't want to wait for who knows how long for the train to pass so instead of taking the Birmingham Bridge across the river, I kept going along the trail to take the 10th street bridge instead. This led to a slight mishap where I found myself stuck on the trail going under the bridge that I wanted to be running across, but luckily I was able to get off the trail pretty quickly to avoid another lengthy detour. I eventually made it back home, just in time to beat the quickly approaching rain, and 2 and a half miles farther than I had intended. But you know what they say, when life puts trains in your way...(or maybe it's when life gives you lemons...)

This could be a great workout if I add in a couple more exercises like single-leg deadlifts and maybe some pushups/more core.
So it was really hot today (I literally just got home from work and laid on the couch complaining to my roommate about how hot it was), so I decided to just do a nice, short, easy run today. I waited until later and then ran through the park, so I was in the shade the whole time which actually helped a ton! So all in all, not a bad run, but I still got insanely sweaty for only going 3 miles...
I'm slowly working myself up to a full tempo run (cause, let's be honest, they are very mentally taxing and I'm just not sure I'm ready for that right now), so I did 2X 10 min tempo, with a 5 minute jogging recovery in between. I'm going to be honest, the first one was a little shaky, I was having a lot of trouble with pacing cause I didn't really know how fast I could maintain for an extended period of time. The second one was better, and I think I averaged 7:21 pace on the first one, and 7:12 on the second one. Not blazing fast, but not horrible considering how long it's been since I've done any kind of tempo-ing.
