Running (Trail) 48:00 [3] 5.0 mi (9:36 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Freedom Iso I

Trail running out at Indianola with my mom - did not feel great, but it was still nice running the trails. I let her set the pace, which was a bit faster than I would have liked for an easy run. I also think my GPS underestimated the distance a bit...

Running 40:45 [3] 5.12 mi (7:58 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Freedom Iso I

Running back in good old Poulsbo - my standard 5 mile route. A bit sore from the gym yesterday.

Running 46:00 [3] 5.44 mi (8:27 / mi)
shoes: New Balance Zante 3

Legs felt really dead today, and right inner lower leg feels off. Nice morning for a run though

Running long 1:59:36 [3] 15.3 mi (7:49 / mi)
shoes: New Balance Zante 3

Legitimately thought I was running a solid 8:15 pace, but was wrong yet again. Will definitely pay more attention to this from now on. Got some new scenery running through Stanton Heights and Lawrenceville today!

Core/Strength 30:00 [3]

Finally made it to the gym again after intentionally taking Tuesday off since I was doing hills...probably will try to go one day this weekend too before heading home for xmas!

Running 55:50 [3] 6.94 mi (8:03 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Freedom Iso I

Soooo wet!!! Very rainy and I got majorly splashed by a bus about 2 miles into my run. After that I was completely soaked and it didn't really matter. It was a bit warmer today which I guess was nice, but cold, dark, and rainy is really not my first choice of running weather. Did some strides in the last couple of miles.

Running 1:11:50 [3] 8.24 mi (8:43 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Freedom Iso I

Got up at 4:45am to run before work so I could have a social life...it actually was kind of nice running in the morning when no one else was up - way less traffic to deal with! The only downside was that a couple of my fingers froze during the last couple of miles and I had some pretty painful thawing when I got home. I mean, that, and the fact that I had to wake up at 4:45am...

Running hills 1:11:20 intensity: (59:20 @2) + (12:00 @4) 8.05 mi (8:52 / mi)
shoes: New Balance Zante 3

Longish warm up, then 8x90s hills with jog back down as recovery, then longish cool down. This workout went pretty well, considering it was hills, which are one of my least favorite workouts. Was pretty consistent throughout, and felt decent for most of the reps. Had a fun time running the hills in the dark too...

Running long 1:51:00 [3] 14.27 mi (7:47 / mi)
shoes: New Balance Zante 3

OK, I swear this was my last way-too-fast long run. I felt kind of bad for the first 3-4 miles but then I was feeling better and really got into a rhythm...a way too fast rhythm. I really thought this would be slower if only because of the hills and the longer run yesterday, but I guess I still haven't learned to SLOW DOWN. Completed my first 50 mile week though, so that's a plus, and only 2 weeks until my official marathon training starts!

Running 1:12:50 [3] 9.12 mi (7:59 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Freedom Iso I

Kind of gross running weather today - windy and rainy, but a bit warmer than it's been. Honestly wasn't that bad after a little bit of acclimating to it, and once I wasn't running into the wind. Told myself I'd go easy today since I'm doing the long run tomorrow, but somehow still ended up going pretty fast. I felt a lot better after running though, even though I didn't really feel like getting out the door.

Running 57:00 [3] 7.03 mi (8:06 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Freedom Iso I

My excuse for running my recovery so fast today is that I was worried about making it home in time for my meeting since I got home from work a bit late because of traffic. The meeting ended up being cancelled though...whoops. I didn't feel fresh, but I didn't feel horrible, and my knee felt pretty good - not really any pain but just felt a little 'off.' Also enjoyed the ~slightly~ warmer weather :)

Running tempo 56:08 intensity: (36:08 @2) + (20:00 @4) 7.0 mi (8:01 / mi)
shoes: New Balance Zante 3

20 minute warm up, then 20 minute tempo (7:08), then cool down to 7 miles. Legs felt tired for the first 5 minutes or so of the tempo, but I felt pretty good for the rest - wasn't dead at the end so that was good! Right knee starting hurting a bit during the cool down - hopefully just a small tweak and nothing major.

Running 58:51 [3] 7.15 mi (8:14 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Freedom Iso I

Felt great today, probably because I was lazy and skipped my cross training yesterday so my legs were really fresh.

Sunday Dec 9, 2018 #

Running 52:33 [3] 6.47 mi (8:07 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Freedom Iso I

Running through the park because it's cold enough that it won't be muddy cause everything is frozen - true, but there are still some icy spots and the ground is definitely harder. Nice way to start off my Sunday :)

Running long 1:55:25 [3] 14.36 mi (8:02 / mi)
shoes: New Balance Zante 3

Wow does doing a long run on fresh legs make a difference! Felt really good today, despite doing a harder route today. A lot of trails for the first half, and a lot more hills than usual too. Pretty cold today - 24 when I left, but really the only thing that was cold was my face at first, and my hands at times. It really does feel warmer when it's not dark...

Running intervals 1:00:00 intensity: (12:00 @2) + (30:00 @3) + (18:00 @4) 7.57 mi (7:56 / mi)
shoes: New Balance Zante 3

Because of the snow/black ice/darkness I decided to try intervals on the treadmill today. It did not go super well. I was planning to do 8x(3 min hard, 2 min easy), but only made it through 6 intervals. Pretty happy I made it through that many considering I almost threw the towel in during the second one. Was running the intervals at 6:40 pace, which is hard on the treadmill because I feel like my stride is different, especially when I run faster. Still got in a decent workout though, in spite of not doing quite as much as I wanted to.

Running 43:00 [3] 5.09 mi (8:27 / mi)

Did not feel as bad as I expected after yesterday - I think walking today was actually worse than running. The soreness might have been from the yoga though...

Running long 1:52:56 [3] 14.14 mi (7:59 / mi)
shoes: New Balance Zante 3

Beautiful day today, got to run in shorts! Legs were tired from yesterday, which was the point I guess, but made this run seem very long. Was doable until the big hill coming up from Lawrenceville around mile 11-12 where I totally died. Managed to finish, but my last few miles were definitely slower.

Running 1:04:55 [3] 8.18 mi (7:56 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Freedom Iso I

Only got a little lost on the trails in Highland Park today, which is good because it was pretty inevitable I was going to go the wrong way trying to do a new route by memory. Nice morning run overall!
