Running warm up/down 15:00 [2] 1.7 mi (8:49 / mi)

Running tempo 26:05 [4] 3.6 mi (7:15 / mi)

So that was the longest '5k' I've ever run...coming in at a hefty 3.6 miles. I'm not quite sure how they got the distance soooo wrong in an out-and-back course, but I pretty much gave up halfway through when I found out how off it was. I didn't have a gps so I couldn't use it to get my 5k baseline from when the race should have been over, so I guess I'll just see this as a tempo run. Frustrated I didn't get an actual time, but I'm guessing I would have finished sometime around 22ish minutes had I pushed hard the whole way. Not super great but not horrible, especially considering how humid it was this morning. Hopefully the next time I run a race it will actually be the distance it's supposed to be...

Running 49:35 [3] 6.09 mi (8:09 / mi)

You take 2 days off and it feels like you forget how to run. Lesson learned. Trying to take it easy this because of the race on Sunday but might be taking it too easy. Running in the heat is starting to feel a little bit easier though. I’ll probably run tomorrow and then take Saturday off before the race...don’t want to forget how to run again!

Running 30:35 [3] 3.74 mi (8:11 / mi)

So, soooo hot today! I didn’t even make it 4 miles and I was dying. I bet running when it’s only 75 out will feel amazing now...

Yoga (Hot) 1:15:00 [3]

This was a hard one today! Lots of good flow, but the instructor definitely had unreasonable expectations about how slowly we could breathe while working out...

Monday Jun 11, 2018 #

Running 45:50 intensity: (33:50 @2) + (12:00 @4) 5.68 mi (8:04 / mi)

Shorter, allegedly faster, intervals today. I did 8X(90s fast, 30s jog). The short recovery definitely made these harder than I expected! I averaged between 6:45 and 7 min pace on the intervals, which wasn’t horrible, considering my legs were not very fresh. Not sure I’m ready for the 5k yet though :/

Yoga (Hot) 1:15:00 [3]

What better way to spend a Sunday morning?

Orienteering 1:22:59 [3] 7.1 km (11:41 / km) +130m 10:42 / km

Finally back out orienteering! It was a good course (although very wet in the woods from all the rain last night), and I was doing really well for the first half of the course. Then I messed up on 10 and 12 and really lost a lot of time, not being lost, but getting to the control in a very slow manner since I didn't end up going the way I had planned. I have to say my relocation was quite good today though. All in all, not a bad race, but I definitely could have done significantly better.

Yoga (Hot) 1:00:00 [2]

I'm not sure if I'm just getting better at yoga, or if it was actually easier today, but it was really nice today. I'm not sure what I'm going to do once my introductory month is up :(

Running tempo 41:45 intensity: (21:45 @2) + (20:00 @4) 5.35 mi (7:48 / mi)

Ok so I am actually so happy with how this tempo run went. I was running at a blazing fast pace of 7:06 for the 20 minutes, which may sound really slow to all you fast runners out there, but is very good for someone who is actually horrible at tempo runs. It also made me feel better about the 5k I signed up for in 2 weeks...maybe I won't be tooooo incredibly slow

Running 25:00 [3] 2.93 mi (8:32 / mi)

Wasn't going to run today, but Katrina was going for a short run so I decided to tag along. My legs were soooo dead, but it was probably a good thing that I got out and did something. Total estimate on the time, but it felt about 8:30 pace...

Yoga 1:15:00 [3]

Running 50:30 [3] 6.04 mi (8:22 / mi)

A nice post-yoga recovery run after yesterday's hills, and it actually felt pretty good! My legs felt tired on the hills, but a nice route, and nice weather too! Listened to a podcast instead of music which was a good change of pace.

Running 53:00 intensity: (44:00 @2) + (9:00 @4) 6.0 mi (8:50 / mi)

Hill workout today! I did 6X90 second hills (recovery was jogging back down), which doesn't sound like a lot but it was rough. Thankfully the weather was perfect for this kind of workout (mainly the reason I was able to motivate myself to do it), which helped a bit. Still was dying by the end, but managed to really push it and get the farthest on the last rep, woo! I have to say, hills are a great workout, but so mentally draining that I can only motivate myself to do them once every one or two months, if that. At least I get a lot of hills in my normal runs...

I <3 yoga.

Running 44:40 [3] 5.58 mi (8:00 / mi)

Was super excited to run on a super nice day for running (because it's finally not 10 billion degrees out) on a monday that went super fast. My legs didn't really agree with me after 3 long days of running though...Still ended up going pretty fast though, definitely was booking it on the downhill way home. Still a nice run in spite of the tired legs.

Sunday Jun 3, 2018 #

Running 40:33 intensity: (20:33 @2) + (20:00 @4) 5.17 mi (7:51 / mi)

Did 10X (2 min fast, 1 min jogging recovery). Actually a really good workout until the 50% chance of thunderstorms turned out to be true on interval #9. I got soaking wet, with my shoes becoming small ponds, in a matter of seconds. I somehow managed to finish out the rest of my intervals, but then kind of felt like I was drowning (it was legitimately hard to breathe because it was raining so hard, not to mention some temporary almost-blindness) running across the Hot Metal Bridge on my cool down. Of course it was sunny again by the time I got back home...figures. Averaged between 6:45 and 7 minute pace on most of the intervals.

Pilates 1:00:00 [3]

Running (Trail) 1:10:50 [3] 7.54 mi (9:24 / mi)

Trail running out at North Park today! It was really fun, but I meant to only do like 45 minutes or so. However, I completely underestimated the distance coming back because it was much less direct than the way out, and then I kind of went the wrong way, so it turned into a bit of a long run. The trails were super fun to run on and you could definitely do a 9-10+ mile run out there if you didn't take the shortcut on the road and went farther out. Will definitely come back!

Running 1:03:15 [3] 7.52 mi (8:25 / mi)

So my nice "5.5 mile" run actually ended up being 7.5 miles...whoops! I really should have learned by now that planning routes in my head and estimating the distance always ends up being horribly wrong. Ah well, getting in the mileage after not running much the first half of the this week, I guess. Although I'm thinking that 2 longish runs in a row was probably not great for my hip - I was definitely feeling it on the uphills near the end. Also starting to think it might be nearing time for some new running shoes, but my legs might just be extra tired from all the standing I did at work this week.
