Orienteering 1:49:33 [3] 8.23 km (13:19 / km) +500m 10:13 / km
shoes: Innovate 280

This course felt way better than yesterday's! I actually knew where I was the entire time, and the hills were (for the most part) fun, rather than a punishment. It was beautiful and open and the running was nice and you could see for miles on top of the hills--so overall it was an excellent day to be orienteering! I made some lousy route choices in the beginning, like on my route to number 2, but overall I think I did okay. I ran hard and stayed in contact with the map. I didn't do super well, but my time was in the middle there with everyone else. I think it wasn't my navigation that had to improve here, but instead my speed on the hills and running on the flat.

Orienteering 2:10:18 [3] 4.56 km (28:34 / km) +345m 20:44 / km
shoes: Innovate 280

First day of Team Trials. This was a really hilly and technical course, and I was totally lost on controls 1-5. First I spent an enormous amount of time looking for number 1, which was supposed to be on a cliff somewhere but didn't really seem to be where it was supposed to. I eventually found it but then wound up making a bad route choice to control two, and so got lost again. This process basically repeated itself until number 5. After number 6 I started to make more sensible route choices out to the next controls and the map started to make sense, but I never really ran at speed or felt very sure. It was just really hard. And those hills didn't help, either!

Frisbee 1:10:00 [3]

Throwing, endzone drill, and then ho-stack scrimmage. I definitely got the flow of the stack better this time around and was able to actually be productive on the field.
