"Tree Cave Track", Belanglo State Forest. M45AS / Hard 6: 4.26km, +135m, 11c. 4th/5 in M45AS (7:16 behind Rob Bradley). Pretty happy with most legs except for a brain fade on #9 & #10. Windy again and colder, 6°C. TE 3.9.
#1- Straight to obvious rocky area. #2 - Kept cliffs on R and beared off to termite mound on R side of hilltop. #3 - Bike, 4WD & foot tracks. #4 - Tracks to bend then up and around to far side of rocks. #5 - Kept high to follow base of cliffs from N. Control appeared to be placed further S than mapped (lost 1:30). #6 - Not interested in climbing up scrub again so used tracks to get to spur. #7 - Up gully from bend in track. #8 - Tracks (should have been more direct to firetrail). #9 - Bike track, but careless bearing from bend put me too far R on the long cliff line (-4'). #10 - Straight, except for bike track diversion (-1'). #11 - Straight. #F - Sprint. Best legs: #1,3 (1st/5). Best pos: 1st/5 (#1,3,4).

"Tallowa South", Tallong. M45AS / Hard 4: 2.6km, +85m, 12c. 2nd/3 in M45AS (5:57 behind Rob Bradley). 6th/30 in H4 (11:24 behind Garry Stewart). Very windy, 8°C. TE 3.7.
Another steep, scrubby course with lots of fallen branches underfoot. Bad legs on S-1 & 8-9 cost me a chance of a win. #1 - Drifted too far left. Hard to tell where you were on long straight rockface. Should have run parallel to road (lost 8'). #2 - Kept high to approach rocks from opposite direction along spur. #3/4/5/6 - All straight. #7 - Drifted a bit high to another set of rocks (-1:10). #8 - Straight. #9 - Ran up hill, crossed road, looking for gully. Disregarded first gully because the head didn't look right but I was too high and had to back track from the next gully (-5'). #10 - Back up to road and followed to back of rocks. #11 - Followed spur down to termite mound. #12 - Straight. #F - Ducked out to main road and cut across when banner sighted. Best legs: #2/3/8/F (1st/30). Best pos: 4th/30 (#8).
