"Mount Annan South", Aust Botanic Gardens, Narellan. Div 3 (3.0km, +160m, 13c). 3rd/32 (+1:29). Much better today athough the navigation was much easier. Lots of climbing although, as Stefan Wagner (setter) inferred, the key is in the map name. Overran #7 (lost 30"). Slow to see ditch at #12 (-15") and wrong direction on exit (-25"). R achilles flared up again after #11. Struggled to stretch out on the uphill path to #12. Tempted to DNS the prologue next Friday so that I am not any worse for the main events on Sat-Sun-Mon. Cadence: avg 145, max 194. 24°C. TE 3.7.

"Wattle Ridge", Bargo State Conservation Area. M55AS / Hard 4 (2.0km, +55m, 12c). 3rd/7 (+10:06). Needed an early start as I had to be at the Sydney Track Classic by 3.30pm (90 minutes away), so I needed to leave by 2pm. Started at 12:50 so I was anxious that I didn't take more than an hour. Became stressed when first leg was slow. Very messy. Few of my plans worked out. Kept on overestimating how far I had run and drifting off my bearings. Cadence: avg 95, max 178. 24°C. TE 4.3.

Sydney Track Classic, Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre. A testing moment for the jury after they overturned a disqualification on an Olympic qualifying time in the 400m hurdles. The umpire was convinced the trail leg went around the hurdle.
