AR 6:20:00 [3] 75.0 km (5:04 / km)
started with 3 CPs on foot. in past years i have made dumb mistakes off the bat, so it was nice to hit these cleanly.
after trashing my bike in virginia, $500 and 3 weeks later i had a new drivetrain and it felt good. hadn't mountain biked in a month, but the road biking i had done was good or better training for this AR.
i was pretty familiar with the course, having raced Tweed 3 times now.
on the last bike section, my crank fell off. thanks for keeping it entertaining, bike shop boys. that was a new one for me, but straight forward enough to put back on, luckily. i ran out of water heading into CP4. so glad there was water there, as it would have made the next hour of riding a little spacey.
the paddle was nice. i wish i went clockwise around the lake, 15 minutes in, i was kicking myself, would have been a nice downwind run on the backside of the lake. in the river my rudder smashed a random rock, knocked me right out fo the boat. i was amazed the rudder wasn't bust. i had a heck of a time getting back in, legs started to cramp, but the swim was refreshing.
race was very well organized, as usual.
