Note

Time to get back into this after far too much faff over the past few months. Need some sort of routine and better work/training/life balance.

- Monday circuits will be making a comeback - small at first but building up.
- A faster run of some sort during the week, as that element has all but dusappeared in the last 18 months.
- Something of a medium to long distance at a weekend wherever possible.

The main challenge will be to build up slowly and then keep it going over the winter.

Croeso Day 3 - Margam North

Wasn't particularly up for this and then almost stacked it three times trying to get down to the stream just off the main track from the start. Sliding around everywhere on any sort of slope, then a disaster on #2 which was handily positioned directly behind a tree. Walked 3 - 5 then mooched back on an appalling route back to assembly...

Croeso Day 2 - Kenfig

Middle distance today in the more runnable north part of the area. Generally ok but you had to keep on it otherwise time could drift away.

Turned in a bit early to first control, so lost a bit of time there. Worst mistake on the run to the second - decided to go straight and had the same problems as the day before. A combination of not reading the description, enough of the detail and seeing an unmapped dune blow-out meant I went past the control and had to come back to it (60"). Quickest route would have been out to the path and back in.

Next few fine, adjacent depression intially at #8 and ended up one spur to the north on #14 (30"). Surprised to see the flags staring at me on the next few controls, but couldn't move any faster for it - lack of fitness catching up on me quickly. A bit hesitant to #22 in the area that had confused me at the end of yesterday and 5" slower on the run-in.

Good to get out in some technical terrain again - now just to be able to run faster...

GPS distance - 6.55 km
