Walking 3:45:00 [1] 14.6 km (15:25 / km) +575m 12:53 / km
shoes: Scarpa Cristallo

Attempt at a Corbett behind Kingussie. Occasional snow showers on the way up meant a fresh powder layer, which was being whipped up by a strong wind nearer the top. Decided to abandon when we couldn't see more than 5 metres in front and couldn't stand still without the wind moving us...

Orienteering 1:42:00 [3] 10.85 km (9:24 / km) +205m 8:35 / km
shoes: 2013 VJ Supra

Lovely run around the Inshriach moraine on the middle course from the Halden training back in October. Tricky without flags! Not convinced I found all of the sites but good technical training around an excellent bit of forest nonetheless. Didn't even notice the rain after a while...

Walking 3:05:00 [1] 12.5 km (14:48 / km) +720m 11:29 / km
shoes: Scarpa Cristallo

Easy pair of munros from Drumochter to round out 2014 (count now at 74). Wind didn't seem as bad as forecast, though a bit chilly - didn't want to stop for any amount of time...

Orienteering 43:30 [3] 6.6 km (6:35 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 300

Fun event around Kincraig - taking it steady after yesterday and the couple of niggles it created. Thought about the long out and back for one of the bonus controls but decided I might miss the bonus roving Santa if I did that...

Nice bit of forest to run around, plenty of paths too so didn't really have to think about the navigation that much.

Orienteering 23:15 [2] 2.85 km (8:09 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 300

Jog out with Pete to one of the bridges across the railway, to collect a few controls on the way back. Ankle niggle generally feeling fine, which was a bit of a surprise.

Walking 9:30:00 [2] 24.6 km (23:10 / km) +1750m 17:05 / km
shoes: Scarpa Cristallo

Long day in the Cairngorms - over the ridge to loch Avon and the Shelterstone before ascending to Beinn Meadhoin. Short scramble on the tor to gain the summit, would have been straightforward with no snow on the rock. Then down and up to Bynack More, which we reached at about sunset. Down to the Nethy and over a smaller ridge before heading back to the lower car park and the last 2k on the road to the ski station.

Blue skies and sunshine today, bit chilly in the wind at times so a fair number of stops to add/remove layers. Excellent views out over the plateau and across Deeside and Glen Shee. Time excludes a couple of the longer stops - out for over 10 hrs in total.

Struggling a fair amount in the soft snow and didn't take enough fluid on during the day, probably not enough food either - knackered on the trudge up Bynack More and beyond.
