Cycling 49:30 [3] 24.3 km (29.5 kph) +160m
max:182 shoes: Shimano Road Shoes

No 'running' today - feeling fairly sleepy this morning and the cloud was down, with a bit of drizzle in the air. Don't really feel like 'racing' at the moment - just happy to get out and enjoy time out in the hills - so was glad I hadn't entered the mountain trial. Saw a few familiar faces at the Mountain Trial and correctly predicted the winner.

The few rays of sun on the way home tempted me to go out on the bike. Just the usual short loop - mostly spinning out though had to work a little harder into the breeze on the way back. Legs not feeling too bad all things considered...

Walking 7:00:00 [1] 25.6 km (16:24 / km) +1500m 12:41 / km
ahr:134 max:189 shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 265

Club trip up to Patterdale to climb Helvellyn via Striding Edge. I'd planned a route of ~15.5 miles which then went south along the ridge, down to Grisedale Tarn and up to Fairfield, before continuing along the horseshoe to Dove Crag and descending back into the valley via Little Hart Crag and High Hartsop Dodd.

Couldn't have asked for better conditions - almost no wind, nice temperature, some sun and pretty clear skies - could pick out most of the major tops and the major lakes, although it was a little hazy. Striding Edge didn't feel particularly 'scrambly' and was straightforward in those conditions. The nature of the group meant the 'run' was always going to be stop-start but the couple of big climbs got the legs and lungs working. Tbh I don't mind walking when it's that good out.

Really enjoyable day out - nice to be able to get the group out in terrain a little different from the Staffs/Derbyshire countryside!

Place Fell from Patterdale YHA, between pub visits. Views were a little hazy, but would have been rude not to go up a hill on a sunny afternoon.

Reminding the legs what running is before the weekend. Jaunt around the 'four hillocks' route to get a bit of climb in. Bit of recovery time at the top of each as not feeling particularly fresh, but better than it could have been.
