Night Orienteering 1:01:00 [3] **** 6.0 km (10:10 / km) +110m 9:19 / km
shoes: 2011 VJ Supra

Harvester, Leg 2 for South London Aardvarks (Men's Open team). Went out in the lead and came back in the lead. Not a good run though - very scrappy, not helped by the undergrowth in places - plenty of 30"-1' misses. Completely different game to Jukola - nature of the area meant many short legs that you couldn't easily simplify, so had to take things more slowly. Surprised to only be 5'30 back on Jase and 3rd fastest time on the leg.

Never really felt challenged physically as could rarely get enough speed up for a sustained period of time. Better flow during night races is something that could be improved generally.

Team finished 2nd and won the small clubs trophy - 13 mins down on Forth Valley in second and 7 mins up on Lakeland in 3rd. Would certainly have taken that at the beginning of the day.

Running 39:30 [3]
shoes: Walsh 2011

From hotel, bracken has shot up in the forest since I was last down here, and the rides/tracks covered in long grass. Legs didn't react very well to that, bit blotchy afterwards.

Run felt a bit plod-like at times, did 3 x 1 minutes faster at various points and didn't feel too bad then...
