Orienteering 58:30 [3] 6.1 km (9:35 / km) +160m 8:29 / km
shoes: 2011 VJ Supra

Long middle, High Dam. Primarily in the early bits from yesterday's course, with a bit in a different forested slope at the end. Much better through the first section than in the classic, apart from a 90"+ mistake on #5.

Generally just not paying attention enough, too much ground-to-map navigation, not planning ahead/planning legs, and route choice generally poor. All worked well in some places - I can read the detail when I want to, but too much running and not enough thinking at the moment.

Orienteering 1:57:00 [3] 11.3 km (10:21 / km) +485m 8:31 / km
shoes: 2011 VJ Supra

Short classic race on High Dam. Good contrasting area (would have been great for the British...) - first part of the course technically challenging, then some open, before battling with the green, and some steep but highly runnable forest on the slope at the end.

Physically going ok, navigationally wasn't really with it - probably 10 or so minutes lost, without analysing it properly. Not being solid enough with the technique at the moment, but not really bothered about it.

Jegor won in 77, so course probably a couple of k short of a full-length classic.

Running 1:27:00 [2] 15.0 km (5:48 / km) +160m 5:30 / km
shoes: Walsh 2011

Can't beat SGB's sighting of a dozen goslings, just 7 or so fluffy grey cygnets with parents on the canal this evening...

New route out through Outwoods and up to Anslow, round to Tatenhill and back along the woodland ridge. Within 15 minutes, I wouldn't have known I was anywhere near Burton - no sight, sound or smell of the town. Easy, steady pace, bit of exploring and a few dead ends.

Glad to get out there; the easy decision of the evening.

Circuits 19:00 [1]

Decided against getting soaked cycling over to Tutbury before a run, and did some circuits instead. Which was unintentionally a good plan on more than one note, as part way through, the body suddenly just wanted to do nothing.

I'm hoping some proper sleep over the next few days will help, and that I'm not getting ill...
