Cycling 1:29:30 [3] 38.8 km (26.0 kph) +330m
ahr:168 max:201 shoes: Shimano Road Shoes

Out on the bike in the evening once the heater had been turned down a bit, aiming for a 90 minute ride this time. Fewer steep uphills today, so quads weren't complaining as loudly as last Sunday, spinning along nicely in parts early on but soon twigged that was slightly wind-assisted.

Went home - Gt. Missenden - Beaconsfield - St Giles - home. Met another roadie climbing out of St Giles, and had a brief chat before he turned off towards the outskirts of London - rare that I see anyone else out on a ride. Nice evening in the end, reasonable temperature though could have done with taking some water.

Stretching 15:00 [0]

Still achy and shin complaining a little, and feeling a little off colour so decided against the run. Instead had a decent stretch in the evening, and the muscles felt much better Sunday morning.

Note
(rest day)

Feeling a bit achy and weary after a long day yesterday.

Walking 4:30:00 [1] 25.0 km (10:48 / km) +630m 9:35 / km

In Dorking for an interview, and with time to kill between that and the evening's activities in London, thought a walk up Leith/Holmbury Hills would be nice. So across to the Nower and followed the Surrey Hills race route to the two tops, then back a bit more directly.

Fantastic panoramic views off the top of Holmbury - better than Leith in my opinion because there aren't any trees in the way. Good to see the rain showers were over the South Downs in the distance and avoiding me! Tried a couple of alternative options on the race route which were generally worse going.

Legs a bit weary towards the end, and underestimated how far it was from the Nower back to Dorking station, so (perhaps wisely) missed the running bit of the evening in Regent's Park. Good to see many familiar faces in the pub, even if I was a bit sleepy at that point...

Running 31:20 [3] 5.3 km (5:55 / km) +75m 5:31 / km
ahr:179 shoes: Walsh Ultra - 2010

Loop down to and along the Chess, then back along the top of the ridge. Bar the occasional swarm of flies/mozzies, was far nicer to run in the cool of the evening, HR was higher than yesterday but effort felt much easier. Perhaps because I had plenty to think about on the way round...

Running 21:45 [3] 3.6 km (6:03 / km) +40m 5:43 / km
ahr:174 shoes: Walsh Ultra - 2010

To the woods, once round the edge and back home. No reaction from ankle, few niggles/aches elsewhere - need to do some stretching. Time/HR as I thought they'd be. Recorded HR post run to see recovery, yet to upload data.

Note

Plan for next few days is 30-35 mins run tomorrow, Regent's Park Thurs, rest Fri.

Probably a longer run and a cycle over the weekend, though Metcheck currently forecasting winds >250mph...
